Assemblage of found chair and found broken glass, the city (San Francisco) is full of wonder. This chair was created from the idea of: making the functional into something nonfunctional combining unlikely materials representing the urban environment – glass and steel, soft and rigid, harsh and comforting, functional and visually stimulating The chair began as a conceptual piece and happened to turn into something beautiful.
Layer upon layer of bill-posters torn down from the walls of Bounds Green station.. Leaving a barely legible few letters intact.
Love is there / It surrounds us everyday / Just open your eyes and / perhaps you may see it
(Enter Peace Found) / Painting / 2008 / By Philippe Fernandez
This work is pieced together, like a quilt, from discarded materials and household objects discovered in piles of junk and urban debris left on nature strips around my suburb. As a result of urban “progress”, suburbs around me are characterized by these piles which contain unwanted relics and fragments of the past. The structural nature of planned urban sprawl is echoed in the grid-like format of the quilt. Just as suburbia imposes an order upon nature, the predefined spaces in my artwork impose order on rejected and discarded materials. Materials: found objects and recycled materials, wood, plastic, metal, fibre, stone, glass, ceramic Size: 100cmx 100cm
Another comment on the expansion of suburbia and the throwaway society we live in… / Materials: found objects and recycled materials, wood, plastic, metal, fibre, stone, glass, ceramic, foam, rubber Size: 95cmx 95cm
