fORMaTiNG YOuR TeXt I havent been having too much fun gettin my text written in RB the way i am used to.. formatting that is.. ive had my text cancelled out like this when i put the ”-” symbol between letters – i try and remember not to do that again. Only just now i found another one.. So i thought to self, that i’d better write all these down here in the journal – for future reference : NEW PARAGRAPHS / Press ENTER twice and that will give you a new paragraph automatically. WHEN ON EACH END OF WORD/TEXT : / eg: * bold * (without spaces) symbol * = bolds / / symbol _ = italic symbol ^ = small upper / / symbol – = cancels you out! symbol ~ = makes text smaller / / symbol + = Underlines the text symbol * * * = makes a horizontal rule/line without the spaces / -found by KSERIPHYN_ TO MAKE TEXT CLICKABLE (INTO URL) Put quotation symbols ” ” on each side of the word/sentence you want to make into Links/Clickable and then a COLON (no spaces) straight after, plus the url ; http:// EXAMPLE (i’ve added spaces in between the symbols so that you can see the text – but NO SPACES ” This tip was found whilst reading PDUV’s journal ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/pduv/journal/show/4812 becomes : This tip was found whilst reading PDUV’s journal TO ADD GRAPHICS INTO YOUR JOURNAL / PLEASE DON’T PUT HUGE PIX, RESIZE/UTILIZE PLACES LIKE IMAGESHACK free image hosting EXAMPLE : (i’ve added spaces in between the symbols so that you can see the text – but NO SPACES) ! http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6817/formatingrbct6.gif ! becomes TIP : You can do save that gif cheat sheet if you want ;) ADDING GRAPHIC & MAKING IT CLICKABLE (LINKED) / for larger pics you want to show, its a good idea to post the Thumbnail size, / and making the graphic clickable to a larger size. To to that just add the :http://website.uwant.url right after the ending exclamation ! mark of the graphic link ! http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6817/formatingrbct6.th.gif !:http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=formatingrbct6.gif / becomes HEADER TEXT (Large fonts) / add symbol # to each side of the word/sentence for header size font. / / but this seems to work only as header, meaning its gotta be the first sentence/text, like a header. i used it up to in the text that says “Formating Your Text” eg : # Is bigger better? # no spaces MAKING BULLET/LIST Make new/update CheatSheet soon done! New Cheatsheet added to bottom of this page and also in portfolio HERE symbol hAsh plus a space then text will make bullets / -found by KSERIPHYN_ / TEXT GENERATOR keong has found this link to TEXTISM a Text Generator that can help you further with formating style that RB uses. For anyone who uses Firefox and has Greasemonkey installed, Dave Pearson has created a script that replaces the existing hints on RedBubble with the cheatsheet (big thanks to Dave!!) updated cheatsheet (28 July 2007)

I was looking around other sites and I came across several redbubble images, mine included. I have not figured out the site yet but it looks like a place to play around with images and in some cases using the images to advertise the product they are selling, I think that is against the law…....not sure. The people using the images have a redbubble link with our username attached but I think it serves as more traffic to steal images…..not to increase chances of sales.I have contacted the company and told them that this is not a stock photograph company but the individuals are held responsible for the images they acquire. I copied some of the images they made with our images and I got a pretty decent result. If you go to polyvore and “TRY” the site, go to the search engine and type redbubble, you will find 7 pages of our images. There is no watermark on them,so they must have cropped them off.I wish there was a way to have a huge watermark displayed across the images only when someone tries to copy or print them. If you go for a visit, let me know what you think. Thank you, / Lisa

People are inherently creative. Deep down, most of us love to come up with new ideas, express who we are, or take a different perspective on the world around us. This is particularly true of children. Remember chalk on the footpath, crayon on the walls, or a painting stuck proudly to the fridge with a magnet. Kids love stories, they love learning about new things, they ask obvious yet somehow overlooked questions. So why don’t many of us focus on our creative interests as adults? Is there something about the process of growing up that changes us, that convinces us to be serious and sensible? Do we lose the ability to be creative? Or does it just get buried amidst the responsibilities, worries and priorities of adult life? Look closer, though, and you’ll see sparks of creativity in adults everywhere. Since starting our RedBubble journey, we’ve been amazed at how many of our close friends have “confessed” to a secret creative hobby, a little spark of creativity that few else know about. Look at the statistics and the picture is clearer still. Over 2.5 million Australians regularly take part in some sort of creative or cultural activity. Almost 90% do this entirely for free, for the simple enjoyment of it. A fortunate few earn a living from it, but most keep their creative spark alive in their own time and without sharing it with the world. RedBubble was founded with a burning desire to improve this situation. And there are some major social and technological trends helping us out. New technology has placed the creative tools of professionals in the hands of amateurs. With digital cameras, editing software, low cost hardware and more, it is easier than ever to produce your own creative content. Truly, the line between professionals and talented amateurs is blurring. And the traditional distinction between producers on one side and consumers on the other fades away – now you can be both! Another important trend is the way that the internet helps side-step the tyranny of distance and lower the cost of distribution. For a country as huge and remote as Australia, this is life-changing. No longer can you be held hostage by limited product ranges, poor information or high costs. If it’s available elsewhere on the globe, you can find it, read about it and buy it in no time at all. Witness also the growth of MySpace and YouTube, riding an internet-powered wave of self-expression and connectedness. Not to mention the millions of blogs out there. For some it’s about fame and the chance of being discovered. But for many, it’s simply about expressing themselves or hanging out with others who share their interests. Yet, plenty of people have held back from self-expression online. Creative talent does not necessarily go hand in hand with technical savvy. And many people don’t feel comfortable sharing their deeply personal creative work in existing online environments. So we asked ourselves: why isn’t there an online home for creative people? A place where they can belong to a genuine creative community, express their thoughts, get inspired, and collaborate with others? And why shouldn’t they be able to turn their creative passion into real objects for themselves or others, without worrying about hassles like producing, marketing, selling, and shipping? And so the concept for RedBubble was born. And the more we thought about it, the more excited we became about making it a reality. We wrote a business plan, left our jobs, scraped together funding, and built a talented team. Eight months later, here we are with the first version of RedBubble alive and kicking. Where RedBubble goes from here is up to you…

Just felt like sharing. I saw a new place today and claimed it right away. I learned from experience that I have to decide quickly before I lose my chances. I’ve been interested in a few places before, which got taken even before I had a chance to check them out! I once even had a response from an agent one morning and replied immediately that I wanted to see the place, only to hear back that the place had gotten taken that morning (immediately after I was told about it!). My new place is is slightly more expensive than my current place (an extra 50 euros per months), but is much more conveniant. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to school as opposed to a tram ride where I have to try to give myself 30minutes to ensure I arrive to school on time and get squished between people and sometimes having their elbows resting on my shoulder – well I suppose rush hour anywhere in the world is unpleasant; I’ve had several unpleasent experiences on TTC buses back home as well. This new place is also much bigger – my bedroom is bigger too and has a real desk so I no longer have to work like this: Well truth told I’ve gotten used to working this way; I really didn’t mind it – the main thing was just finding a closer place… and a bigger kitchen… and not needing to do laundry by hand anymore. I’m really glad it all worked out. On the way home I just missed a bus. and I was thinking “Darn… ah but with this new place that won’t matter anymore…”. I’ll be moving to my new place after my new big project deadline is over :P

The first competition was completed in the Everyday Women’s group. I am proud to share with you the following:. For First Place in the writing competition is My Mother by amarica. Second place is Women and Children by tkrosevear, and in third place is Circle of Life…to live again by Judi Taylor. WOW! Congratulations to the first and second place winners Amarica and Tkroseavear for their winning pieces. It is quite exciting to me to have a written piece of mine recoginized. I orginally joined Redbubble to give my writing some exposure. It was my desire to get constructive feedback regarding my writing content and style. There was also the hope of meeting others who had the same interest in writing that I do. Both of these things have happened. The process of learning never ends for me and it is within this process that Redbubble shines! My appeciation for your attention and passion for the written word is near overwhelming. I hope I can continue to improve my writing and share with you something that has given me much satisfaction and enjoyment. “A writer writes … an Author gets read. I want to be an AUTHOR!” Thank you for helping me to make a difference … in my life and yours. —Judi / P.S. The third winning pieces will be features at Women’s Solutions Hope you come by and take at look at this wonderful site.

Breaking news Australia March 17 2008 Wreck of HMAS Sydney found / Posted 1 hour 4 minutes ago / Updated 53 minutes ago / Wreck found: The crew of the HMAS Sydney (ABC TV) / The group searching for the HMAS Sydney has found the wreckage of the World War II Australian warship off the coast of Western Australia, the ABC has confirmed. The Sydney was sunk with all hands in November 1941 after a battle with the German raider Kormoran. The Sydney’s entire crew of 645 went down with the ship in the Indian Ocean and its location has been a mystery for 66 years. The Finding Sydney Foundation yesterday revealed it had discovered the wreckage of Kormoran off the Western Australia coast, raising hopes that the Sydney would be relocated. The Australian ship was last seen badly damaged and steaming over the horizon after the exchange of gunfire with the Kormoran, which also sank after the battle. Hmas Sydney found 150 km Shark Bay off the Western Australia coastline. Sunk November 16 1941 with 645 on board one of which was my Father, not one survivor also the German Raider Kormoran.

A 500 carat diamond has been found in Lesotho!!! Taken from an article in the Scotsman this morning ….. ’’ IT IS a mere speck on the map, but deep beneath its inhospitable plateaux, nature has gifted Lesotho some of the grandest sparklers in the world. / The rich seam of the African enclave’s mines became clear yesterday, after the discovery of a huge gem experts believe could yield the largest polished round diamond in history. It weighs 478 carats and is the 20th largest rough diamond ever recovered. Such is its outstanding clarity and rounded shape, it has set tongues wagging in the upper echelons of the stone trade. Once polished, tentative speculation has it that the white diamond could reach a valuation well into eight figures. The diamond, which has not yet been named, is the fourth remarkable gem to be unearthed from the Letšeng mine in only two years. Lesotho, geographically surrounded by South Africa, is an impoverished nation, where shepherds take refuge in crude, thatched huts when they are not crossing mountains by horseback. However, it is also regarded as the most productive region in the world for precious stones. After initial examinations by gemologists in the Belgian city of Antwerp, it is estimated the rock has a completely flawless centre and might even yield a 150-carat polished gem stone. If so, it would dwarf the likes of the Koh-i-noor diamond, the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels. The grade-D stone – the highest quality – was unearthed a fortnight ago at Letšeng, in the landlocked country’s Maluti mountains. The glittering prize emerged from the hundreds of thousands of tons of kimberlite rock mined every day. Sculpting it into a marketable asset is an arduous task, involving several months’ work. It is not yet clear exactly what the stone will produce, but, typically, it will take three months to assess any cracks or faults and decide how best to maximise the yield before polishing begins. The danger of the stone shattering during cutting is ever present.’‘ And I don’t suppose it will benefit any of the ‘poor shepherds’ who will probably have to continue living in ‘Crude thatched huts’ and scraping a living from the surface of the land! ..... a bit of an imbalance here don’t you think?

I am a semiserious photographer who began to become serious during a previous life in the world of independent documentary film. This was after growing up in Kabul, Jeddah and Ankara as a diplomat’s daughter. The community of independent documentary film is where it dawned on me that I accepted the responsibility of asking viewers to see through my eyes. I began to shoot documentary stills, live and copy stand work. Then I added a very nice macro lens to my old Olympus OM2 to photograph things people don’t usually see unless they look close. A year ago, I broke down and purchased a basic digital camera, an Olympus SP-500UZ, so I could take it with me on my journey back to Turkey and use the internet to send photos for posting on our web site Ankara High School Connections RedBubble has inspired me to learn to use the macro function on the digital Olympus, and I am trying to see the image as a card. Looking around RedBubble’s Gallery, whose name has been reduced to “art” as Journal was degraded to “blog,” I have found inspiration for some wonderful images of where I live. I saw a photo of an old coffee grinder that reminded me we have one in the Casa. I have an old Yemeni silver dagger and a case like one I’ve seen here on RedBubble. I have found photos that evoke the same feelings as some of mine. RedBubble is something I found by accident during a search for direction in getting Frog in a Rose / digitally printed onto nylon as a garden flag. I signed up on RedBubble because it offers fabulous photos as cards, even ones of my photos! Anita Donohoe / Rancho San Julian / Santa Barbara County, California

Having purchased some of my own cards a few weeks ago, I put them on display for my B&B guests to see and am delighted to have sold 15 in the last week. I only wish I could do 2009 calendars as I’m sure they would go really well but there is still only the 2008 template available – seems daft to me when it’s already halfway through the year! / Other members could try asking their local hotels / B&Bs to sell cards of the local area also.
