From a sketch that I did, whilst i was in Australia. / From a photo of a frog that, I believe, lives in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (Gold Coast, Australia). Painted in acrylics and mostly composed of dozens of successive ink washes. I’m rather pleased with the overall effect. I just can’t decide whether I want ot put in a background or not. What do you think?
A view of the night sky out of my living room window. Oh how I love sunsets…giving hope for a new day.
Lil Formers is a parody comic strip created, written, drawn, inked and coloured by me, Matt Moylan. It started off poking fun at all aspects of Hasbro’s Transformers mega-property (hence the ‘Formers’ in the title). Strips #1 to 100 are all TF-centric, but now with Strip #101 onward, I’m expanding the scope of things to cover all geeky, pop culture properties. The Lil Formers web comic can be found at http://www.lilformers.com

As one looks down into the ruins of the old penal settletement of Port Arthur, it is impossible to be unaware of the haunted quality of the place. The beauty of the setting contrasts uncompromisingly with the stark outlines of the penitentiary, the lunatic asylum, model prison, Isle of the dead, point Puer and it’s mass graves, the 1996 massacre memorial site…. / Going on the ghost tour at night didn’t help much  The Hospital built in 1841-42 was the third constructed at Port Arthur. Placed on top of Settlement Hill, above the prisoners’ barracks, the hospital was made up of wards, kitchen, baking room, laundry and morgue. As the convicts of Port Arthur worked in heavy industries such as timber-getting, accident victims at the hospital were common. The hospital was staffed by a doctor and a number of untrained convict orderlies. In the 1890s, the hospital building was sold to the Catholic Church, but was unfortunatley burnt in the 1895 and 1897 fires. (photo taken 2006)

UKRAINA, BELORUSIA PHOTOS BY BIRUTE VALIONYTE From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Columns of Gediminas, symbol of the Gediminids. / The Gediminids (Lithuanian: Gediminaičiai, singular: Gediminaitis) were a dynasty of monarchs of the medieval Lithuania that reigned from the 14th to the 16th century. They were rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which realm chiefly meant that of Lithuanians and Ruthenians, this area being at least half-Slavic. One branch of this dynasty, known as the family of Jagiellons, reigned also in Poland, Hungary and Bohemia. Several other branches ranked among the leading aristocratic dynasties of Russia and Poland into recent times. / Their monarchical title in Lithuanian primarily was, by some folkloristic data, kunigų kunigas (“Duke of Dukes”), and later on, didysis kunigas (“Great/High Duke”) or, in a simple manner, kunigaikštis. In the 18th century the latter form was changed (maybe, by polonised clerks) into tautological didysis kunigaikštis, which nevertheless would be translated as “Grand Duke” (for its etymology, see Grand Prince). / Contents [hide] / 1 Their origin / 2 List of (undoubted) Gediminids who ruled in Lithuania / 3 Branches of the dynasty / 4 See also / 5 Notes / 6 External links / [edit]Their origin The origin of Gediminas himself is much debated. Some sources say he was Vytenis’ ostler, others that he was of peasant stock, some historians consider him as the son or grandson of Lithuanian or Yatvingian duke Skalmantas. Most of scholars agree, however, that Gediminas was Vytenis’ brother (the parentage of Vytenis is explained differently in various fake genealogies, compiled from the 16th century onwards; according to the latest Polish research, his parentage cannot be established.[1] / [edit]List of (undoubted) Gediminids who ruled in Lithuania Gediminas / Jaunutis / Algirdas / Jogaila / Kęstutis / Vytautas / Švitrigaila / Žygimantas Kęstutaitis / Kazimieras Jogailaitis / Aleksandras / Žygimantas Senasis / Žygimantas Augustas / [edit]Branches of the dynasty Genealogical tree of the Gediminid dynasty. / The Eastern Orthodox branches of the family were mostly Ruthenian, which also was the one of the two main languages of their established state. Some of these families (e.g., Czartoryski) later converted to Roman Catholicism and became thoroughly Polonized. Others (e.g., Galitzine) moved to Muscovy and became thoroughly Russified. / Some of the noblest princely families of Russia and Poland belong to the Gediminid stock. In Belarusian the Gediminids are known as Гедзімінавічы (Giedziminavičy, sing.: Гедзімінавіч, Giedziminavič), in Polish — as Giedyminowicze (sing.: Giedyminowicz), in Ukrainian – as Гедиміновичі (Hedyminovychi, sing. Гедимінович Hedyminovych), and in Russian — as Gediminovichi (sing.: Гедиминович). / In Poland, most Gediminid families (such as Korecki, Olelkowicz-Słucki, Wiśniowiecki, Zbaraski, Jagiellons) are extinct, but at least three families survive to the present: Czartoryski, Sanguszko, and Koriatowicz-Kurcewicz. / The Russian Gediminid families include Bulgakov, Golitsin, Kurakin, Khovansky, Trubetskoy, Mstislavsky, Belsky, and Volynsky.

This is a corridor of The Louvre, Paris. The Louvre is the largest museum in France and the most visited in the world. It is also the home of the Mona Lisa, arguably Da Vinci’s most famous and mysterious work. The Louvre was build in the 12th Century and initially qas a fortress for Philip II. 400 years later it became a display house of Louis XIV, and in 1793, was opened for it’s first exhibition. It was closed again until 1801 due to structural damage, when it reopened. Today the Louvre houses over 380,000 pieces of art, across 8 departments. I spent 4 hours in there and only got to see 1/8 of the entire building. Two textures added to this one and a slight adjustment of colour and contrast to make it look like an old photo of an aristocratic past. Slight crop also, to take out the tops of the many visitors heads that were in frame. I thought I play a bit around in Corel PSP again. / Here we have a picture taken in a typical small german village that is at the Mosel River and surrounded by wineyards. While walking in the narrow streets one thinks one is in another century sometimes…. / I thought I made it look like being in 1870, added a filter, some sepia tones and some texture. Hope you enjoy. / Taken in Germany in October 2009 Before: /
