Forget Me Not- Worked in Photoshop. / At first glance the ‘forget me not’ is a tiny plant that you could walk by and hardly notice. But on closer inspection like most things from mother nature it is absolutely beautiful. I think I did her justice Canon 400D – 100mm 2.8 macro lens- photoshop CS3 /

When I saw this prayer, written by an unknown author, at the Carmelite monastery where I do volunteer work, I knew I had to incorporate it into an image and offer its consoling words to those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s as well as to family, friends, and medical personnel who care for those afflicted with this disease. I chose an image of a cloud-filled sky as the sun was setting because those with Alzheimer’s are largely in the sunset of their lives and have to contend with many issues that cloud their lives. Prayer for an Alzheimer’s Sufferer Please grant my visitors tolerance for my confusion, / Forgiveness for my irrationality, / and the strength to walk with me / Into the mist of memory my world has become. Please let them take my hand and stay awhile / Even though I seem unaware of their presence. / Help them to know how their strength and loving care / Will drift slowly into the days to come / Just when I need it most. Let them know when I don’t recognize them / that I will . . . I will. / Keep their hearts free from sorrow for me / For my sorrow when it comes only lasts a moment – / then it’s gone. And finally please let them know / how very much their visits mean, / How, even through this relentless mystery, / I can still feel the love. Amen
I have just been featured in; The Urban Wildlife Group and The Nikon DSLR Users Group I went for a walk today over to the Forty Hall Estate in Enfield for a couple of hours and this beautiful male Mandarin Duck was gliding gracefully across the lake with his female in tow. I was so happy the way this one turned out. The weather was a little overcast but that gave a fantastic balanced light making the colour of this lovely duck stand out really well. I hope you like the shot and thank you so much for viewing my work, please come again soon. I forgave you yesterday for hurtful words / today, I compromised for affection / I’ll forgive you tomorrow / and lose more faith in my belie…
Back in 1992, I wrote this quote in my journal, “Forgiveness is a courageous attempt to add steps to the ladder of the future. To forgive oneself is the doorway to heaven and the challenge of lives to come.” I cannot remember who the author was, but this quote is a part of my daily routine - / I forgive myself for what I’ve done yesterday, today and tomorrow! / In my counseling efforts the issue of forgiveness is always misconstrued, that in order to forgive you must embrace the person forgiven – this is NOT to say you need live with them, tolerate future abuse, or forget the lessons learned from this relationship. I guess that this particular belief is what sparked the inspiration for this writing at 2am this morning. / I am hopeful that someone struggling with Self-Esteem earns their presence and ability to hold themself in enough regard and strength NOT to compromise themself for Survival, Affection or Success! / Peace~ Imagine my surprise today 5/6/09, when my sweet sister DevineDay Dreams created created this beautiful artwork to accompany this poem…

Forgetfulness / by Billy Collins / / The name of the author is the first to go / followed obediently by the title, the plot, / the heartbreaking conclusion, the entire novel / which suddenly becomes one you have never read, / never even heard of, as if, one by one, the memories you used to harbor / decided to retire to the southern hemisphere of the brain, / to a little fishing village where there are no phones. Long ago you kissed the names of the nine Muses goodbye / and watched the quadratic equation pack its bag, / and even now as you memorize the order of the planets, something else is slipping away, a state flower perhaps, / the address of an uncle, the capital of Paraguay. Whatever it is you are struggling to remember / it is not poised on the tip of your tongue, / not even lurking in some obscure corner of your spleen. It has floated away down a dark mythological river / whose name begins with an L as far as you can recall, / well on your own way to oblivion where you will join those / who have even forgotten how to swim and how to ride a bicycle. No wonder you rise in the middle of the night / to look up the date of a famous battle in a book on war. / No wonder the moon in the window seems to have drifted / out of a love poem that you used to know by heart. We should never forget to Honour those Men and Woman who fought and fight to protect us against tyranny. I’d like to say thank you to Stuart Chapman ( The Tide Is Often Out ) and Philip Golan Remember Them for allowing me to use their images Thank you soo much. FOR THE FALLEN With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children / England mourns for her dead across the sea, / Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, / Fallen in the cause of the free. Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal / Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, / There is music in the midst of desolation / And glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, / Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow, / They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, / They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: / Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn / At the going down of the sun and in the morning / We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again, / They sit no more at familiar tables of home, / They have no lot in our labour of the daytime, / They sleep beyond England’s foam. But where our desires and hopes profound, / Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, / To the innermost heart of their own land they are known / As the stars are known to the night. As the stars shall be bright when we are dust, / Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, / As the stars that are stary in the time of our darkness, / To the end, to the end, they remain. I have a passion for decaying architecture. I love the aging process which creates a beauty all of its own. The paradox of a derelict cinema called the Futurist in the centre of a busy city where new buildings are springing up all around. Why do we let the most wonderful buildings fall into ruin whilst spending fortunes to build new structures? I hope you appreciate this. First published May 2008, Photography Monthly
