Twinkling rays of setting sun / Come sifting through the trees / To dance upon the forest floor / And sparkle with the breeze Abstract photography of a northeast Georgia sunset sifting through the forest. These abstracts are formed through Camera Painting rather than editing in PS, etc. I get the effects with slight movements of the camera during a slow shutter speed. This one was created with a zig-zag movement after several tries … not an easy technique. 697 views as of Nov. ‘09 Olympus E-3, Zuiko 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5 Also see the close up abstract image Winter Forest Sunset of the same scene. / Copyright © Richard G. Cool crisp autumn morning, and the warm sunlight shinning through the fall leaves, and morning fog. / Acrylic on canvas Canon PowerShot S3 IS
Pastel painting on Black Acid Free Canson Paper using hard chalk pastels and Faber Castell pastel pencils. The magnificent Daintree Forest is located in tropical far north Queensland, Australia. This world heritage listed forest is over 135 million years old – the oldest in the world and spans 1,200 square kilometres. It is home to the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened with extinction anywhere in the world. It surely is the most diverse and beautiful example of mother nature at its very best. “I walked alone into no man’s land / and with my eyes witnessed the beauty of nature’s hand. / Green veils of leaves and trees stood tall / Babbling sounds of water and then a bird’s call. / Standing proud surviving all time, / this magnifcent forest forever in its prime! This is just a very small part of this tranquil and magical forest. Inspiration for this painting came from my daughter’s photograph called Daintree Bliss which is just one of her many beautiful photos:tracyleephoto“ FEATURED IN: FLOTSAM AND JETSAM / IMAGE WRITING

“Double, double toil and trouble; / Fire burn, and caldron bubble. / Fillet of a fenny snake, / In the caldron boil and bake; / Eye of newt, and toe of frog, / Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, / Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, / Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,— / For a charm of powerful trouble, / Like a hell-broth boil and bubble / Double, double toil and trouble; / Fire burn, and caldron bubble” —MacBeth, William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Acrylic painting done on a small scrap of paper (approximately 10 X 12 inches) to use up my left over paint. Waste not, want not. Used a small brush and my fingers. / Added PS effects to bring out the details. Cropped a large square and then added a small insert of the full piece in the bottom right corner. I only uploaded it because I thought it was kinda pretty and I didn’t want to throw it away, LOL – otherwise it would be in the garbage. /
“Painted in a semi-abstract style, “The Fifth Sorrow” evokes the woodland in Hughes poem.. / I decided to paint it to look like old woven tapestry, and to that end used only sea sponges and a rigger for details…light is pouring down through the centre of the wood, casting the roots into deeper shadow, illuminating the leaves and the tree trunks…the chiaroscuro effect gives the viewer the feeling of being bathed in the same light... Watercolour on Drawmaster Not Paper View the entire Landscape Collection HERE The first sorrow of autumn / Is the slow goodbye / Of the garden who stands so long in the evening- / A brown poppy head, / The stalk of a lily, / And still cannot go. The second sorrow / Is the empty feet / Of a pheasant who hangs from a hook with his brothers. / The woodland of gold / Is folded in feathers / With its head in a bag. And the third sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the sun who has gathered the birds and who gathers / The minutes of evening, / The golden and holy / Ground of the picture. The fourth sorrow / Is the pond gone black / Ruined and sunken the city of water- / The beetle’s palace, / The catacombs / Of the dragonfly. And the fifth sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the woodland that quietly breaks up its camp. / One day it’s gone. / It has only left litter- / Firewood, tentpoles. And the sixth sorrow / Is the fox’s sorrow / The joy of the huntsman, the joy of the hounds, / The hooves that pound / Till earth closes her ear / To the fox’s prayer. And the seventh sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the face with its wrinkles that looks through the window / As the year packs up / Like a tatty fairground / That came for the children....Ted Hughes / The First Sorrow / The Third Sorrow / The Fourth Sorrow
The walls are newly painted and the studio awaits the installation of the “newly minted” units which will take place tommorow…I can’t wait…I have a few paintings still hidden in the “Empty Studio” series and this one of flowers was created in the ink wash-off technique, that you saw in a few of the others…it is difficult to end up with detailed work in this style of painting, as the results are unpredictable, but that is the beauty of it…many times it ends up looking like a wood cut... see others in the series below Ink on Arches Paper Different flowers look good to different people / Pick the flower when it is ready to be picked. / The flower that you spent time to care for does not grow while the willow / that your accidentally planted flourishes and gives shade. “One must have a mind of winter / To regard the frost and boughs / Of the pine-trees crusted with snow; / And have been cold a long time / To behold the junipers shagged with ice, / The spruces rough in the distant glitter / Of the January sun; and not to think / Of any misery in the sound of the wind, / In the sound of a few leaves.” excerpt…Wallace Stevens Watercolour on Arches Not Paper / Baby It’s Cold Outside / The First Day / C’est L’hiver / Winter Landscape…The Bothy / Winter…After The Storm
