A stand of majestic lodge pole pine trees is silhouetted against a sky filled with looming gray clouds. The clouds actually completely obscure the view of loft Sofa Mountain in Waterton lakes national park. Captured at the Sofa Mountain Lookout on Hwy 6 just north of the Canada-US border, and south of the entrance to Waterton Lakes National park, in southern Alberta, Canada. The cold, brilliant blue glacial waters of Vermillion River (in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada) flow past dark green pine forests and lofty Rocky Mountains beneath a sky filled with dark, angry storm clouds. Captured with a Canon Rebel XSi using an 18-55mm lens. Converted to HDR using Photomatix Pro 3.
