Walking one of my favorite creeks today I came across this abandoned footbridge on the old cart path that crosses Glade Creek. Overgrown now with scrubby box elder trees, grapevines, sumac and maple saplings, the bridge recalls a time some hundred years ago when even footbridges were lovingly and artistically crafted. The new bridge on the new road is hardly a thing of beauty!

This is the result of collaborating with a very talented lady; Julie Langford is the best! If you like this card, but wish for something different regarding the text (maybe a birthday of someone that remembers a bit of the past), let me know. For those with a sense of the historical, the bridge is rope and plank suspension footbridge.

Footbridge over the A12 on the south approach to the town. Taken in bright sunshine and tweaked to enhance contrast. Updated: / Just wanted to add a thanks really to a friend of mine who let me borrow his camera, a Nikon D80 with 3 nice lenses and filters etc. This is one I took today as part of a series for a presentation/slide show about Colchester at an upcoming event in the town. f10; 1/400 sec; 10mm lens; ISO 400. Lens was Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 DC HSM lens – a real beauty! Thank you Richard
