FRIED EGGS
by JoyceThis little painting was done with Oil Pastels, a medium I have come to love recently! I used sanded pastel paper as my surface. These eggs are still somewhat raw which gave me some more interesting colours to work with.

The Fox Theater in Atlanta Georgia, There used to be a Fox in just about every major city. / This one was fully restored and in 1989 they celebrated the 60 th anniversary of \”Gone With The Wind\” with a black tie event and commissioned special posters of \”the Fox Theater\” commemorating the event! Ted Turner was there along with 7 of the original cast of the movie and many elite, I was there in black tie signing prints, a great event and a great painting! / The original 36×48 oil painting sold for $10,000.00.

This Picture is no longer available as a card, because the writing get cut off. / But I now also have the same picture with white border added available as a card. / Grandma’s Coffee Cookies (recipe) w/ white border / Grandma’s Coffee Cookies / / 2 cups brown sugar / 1 cup butter / 1 cup cold leftover coffee / 1 egg / 3 cups flour / 1 tsp. baking soda / 1 tsp. baking powder / 1 tsp. cinnamon / ¾ tsp. nutmeg / 1 cup raisins, blanched (pour boiling water over raisins and let sit for 5 minutes, then drain) / 1 cup walnuts Mix brown sugar and butter together; blend in cold coffee. Beat in egg. Mix dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 12-14 minutes A beautiful, soft drop cookie. / Freeze well. Camera: Canon Rebel XT (DSLR) / Len: 18-55mm zoom / ISO: 100 / Shutter Speed: 1/13 / F/stop: 5.0 / W/B: Daylight / Self timer was used for this shot. / Lit natural sunlight from near by window. / Only change to the main photo was a bit of cropping and softening of the edge, other than that it as is from the camera. Late October…it had been a cold summer and we hardly hoped for any fruit, but the old stone wall had been kind as in years past, keeping the warmth of the sun in it’s bones, so that the pears grew fat and juicy, hanging so low, we had to tie them to prevent them from falling…then suddenly it was winter and we ran to gather them in…visons of pear jams, compotes and chutneys urged us to hurry before a frost set in…they felt good in the hand, plump and juicy….stored in the root cellar, they will take us through to spring...excerpt…The Old Pear Tree..Janis Zroback Watercolour on Arches Not Paper / Pears and Lace
