I suppose that I could have sliced these apples apart on the computer, but that would have meant that I couldn’t use a big knife. So, after whackin’ them apart very carefully, I had to do the Humpty Dumpty thing and try to put them together again. However, the king doesn’t have any horses anymore, and “all the king’s men” has been changed to “All the King’s Persons; Local 283” ...they’ve been booked solid since last Easter! I decided that a good option to putting them back together again, was to just eat ‘em. I chose the green one first, “Granny Smith, what green skin you have!” ...and that’s enough of THAT! :)

An ingredient in diet coke and many other artificially sweetened products, aspartame is surrounded by controversy. There are programs for people who are heavily addicted to diet drinks, and multitudes of reports by doctors and toxicology experts detailing the negative effects of aspartame on the body. Loads of people get really sick from the stuff, and apparently the way it got approved for use is extremely shady as well, with the scientist doing the toxicology approval being paid $1000 per day on a ten year contract. How many times have we heard our mother tell us Come on, eat it! It’s full of good things! Well, here is proof that moms are always right! Again, this is my starting image. Please refer to Renaissance Still Life for more details on how it was made. I selected only the fruit with the elliptical marquee tool, and discarded the rest. Then I sperized with the distort filter, and scaled everything to fit into the apple. To obtain the final image, I mostly stacked three layers of this image of a red apple ornament over the fruit, blended in screen mode in various opacities. Finally, I adjusted levels for each colour channel separately.
