Phew, this was harder than I thought it would be. It started as a fractal in Apo 3D. I then went to Vue 6 and mapped the fractal to the bottom of a sphere to make the bowl. In came the apple, a freebie found at TurboSquid, and I had hours of fun getting the colour and material just right. Then came the table, another freebie from TurboSquid, and I had some more hours of getting the surface just right. I had to rig spotlights to get the highlights where I wanted them. All in all, I worked perhaps 8 hours on it. Luckily the rendering itself didn’t take very long. / It’s a Golden Delicious, by the way.

This old fashioned rusty milk pail is being used as a rubbish bin at a great little café called Sugar Shack, right on the edge of North Haven Beach, about a thirty minute drive south of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. The original colour image was processed using my normal workflow but it lacked the “punch” I wanted to really show off the rust and the rust/green contrast. So I ran the image through the OptikVerve Labs Virtual Photographer filter plug-in for Photoshop and used the “Photocopy” Filter for this affect. The owners were so impressed they bought a framed copy! Camera: Fuji S5500; High Res .jpg; Macro Mode; Aperture Priority; f/3.6; 1/60sec; 8mm; EC +1; Hand held. / Processing: Photoshop CS. Enjoy! Sing: “One blue bottle sitting on a wall….. One blue bottle sitting on a wall…” This still life was photographed on the veranda of Blue Poles Café and Art Gallery in Byabarra, a little township south west of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, on a grey winter day. I set the empty water bottle up and turned the camera upside down so I could use the pop-up flash to throw just enough fill light onto the bottom of the bottle to lower the contrast between the top and bottom due to the backlight shining through the bottle. Camera: Fuji S5500; High Res .jpg; Chrome Colour setting; Aperture Priority; f/3.6; 1/1000sec; 14mm; WB Daylight; ISO 100; Low powered Flash; Hand held but supported. / Processing: Photoshop CS.
