It’s still very much a work in progress … but we’ve been listening to a bunch of feedback and thinking about what we want to achieve with the MyBubble page (challenging our assumptions). This version of the design still enables us to introduce the important concepts of a subscription and group news … but still retains the ‘feed’ feel of the current design (and is a better design in my opinion). This design would allow full configuration of the feed – we’re still to work out how this interface will work … As an interesting note, only 12% of our current members have made any configuration of the current MyBubble page … One of the things I like about this design is that it’s presenting a visually simpler activity feed … it feels a little lighter … which is one of the things I’d like to achieve. If it looks broken in IE please go and buy a mac and try it in safari (it’s still a work in progress) ;-) http://plusminus.com.au/clients/redbubble/MyBubble/mybubble-index2.html## - Peter

50 things about me…for fun. So following the journals by JC Montgomery and Paul Rees-Jones, I couldn’t resist having a crack at it as well, and neither could Miri, Anne, Alix, Zolton, Gayla, Cathie, darkestartist, hahpistuff 1. Do you like blue cheese? / I’ve tried it at least, but I wouldn’t run out and buy it. 2. Have you ever smoked a cigarette? / Twice, so yes. But they were just excuses to go and talk to girls :) 3. Do you own a gun? / No, but I grew up on a farm where guns were just another tool, so weren’t glamourised or romanticised, and we were trained in safety with the threat of never touching one again if we broke dad’s rules. The rules included toy guns. 4. What flavor do you add to your drink at Sonic? / So Sonic is a junk food chain? Never heard of the place personally. 5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? / Depends why I’m there. Not if it’s for things like stitches, broken bones, dislocations, or vaccinations. Skin cancer checks make me concerned though. Too many people, young and old, die in Australia from it. 6. Do you like hot-dogs? / Sorta. The last one I had was rubbish though. 7. Favorite Christmas Song? / Bah humbug. 8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning? / A double flat white. 9. Can you do push-ups? / Yup. Not as many as I used to be able to do when properly fit though. 10. What’s your favorite meal? / Mmmm, pig on the spit! Drooling… / Pork is the stumbling block in anyones way to converting me to vegetarianism. I couldn’t do it. Nope, no way. 11. What’s your favorite piece of jewelry? / My watch. 12. Favorite hobby? / Used to be martial arts, but that died so that I might complete my postgrad study. I’m also a reformed computer game addict, and don’t do that anymore (but I wish I was!). I love the cinema, but only get to go a couple of times a year now. I used to read all the time, but my urge has decreased since I started writing. So I guess writing and photography are my current drives. 13. Do you work with people who idolize you? / Hardly. But who works with those sort of people? Unless you’re a movie star? 14. Name a trait that you hate about yourself? / Pouring all I’ve got into my current obsession, and then waking up one day and walking away from it never to look at it again (because there’s this new obsession, and it’s sooo much more interesting…) 16. Middle name? / John 17. Name 3 thoughts at this moment: / 50 questions actually takes longer to answer than it looks… / I should be finishing some writing… / Hmm, I feel like playing with my camera… 18. Name 3 things you bought yesterday: / A PhotoShop magazine. / Realms of Fantasy magazine, August 2008 (it’s got some cool stories, anyone read it?) / An asthma puffer :( 19. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink. / Mainly water. Start the day with a nice coffee. Occassional fruit juice. Although wine is probably more common than juice really. 20. Current worry right now? / That if I quit work the bills won’t get paid while I change careers. 21. Current hate right now? / The way the media works, at all levels, to inspire a culture of fear in the masses. 22. Favorite place to be? / The Gold or Sunshine coast hinterlands (not the coastal cities). But Byron Bay is nice. So’s Fraser Island. But I’m also happy sitting right here with my camera next to me and my bookshelves surrounding me. 23. How did you bring in New Years? / I don’t believe I did. 24. Favorite place to go? / Japan. 25. What is your most recurring dream? / Depends on how I’m feeling. / I have dreams of water, where I’m on top and any and all types of creatures writhe and squirm below the surface. When I’m stressed they break the surface. / Then there’s the zombies. Desperately trying to make me one of them. Just a fear of being like everyone else I think. 26. Introvert or extrovert? / Introvert, but I talk a lot apparently. 27. What color shirt are you wearing? / Grey. 28. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets? / I’m not sure. 29. Can you whistle? / Yep. 30. Favorite color(s)? / Blue, black, grey. 31. Would you be a pirate? / In some ways yes, but the reality of life on an old tall ship surrounded by people you couldn’t trust isn’t my idea of a good time. 32. What songs do you sing in the shower? / No, not me. 33. Favorite girl’s name? / Gwenevere (I know, the spelling’s not the old way) 34. Favorite boy’s name? / That’s hard. Anything that breaks away from using names from the ‘traditional’ western source of names. 35. What’s in your pocket right now? / Ah, that’s where I left my USB key! 36. Last thing that made you laugh? / Little Britain; The Umbillical Brothers. 37. Bed sheets as a child? / I guess so? 38. Worst injury you’ve ever had? / Broken bones, but a dislocation was more painful. I’ve got a crescent moon scar between my eyes. I think that’s cool :) 39. Do you love where you live? / It’s okay. It’s briliant in summer though, as Queensland is too hot everywhere else. 40. How many TV’s are in your house? / Just one. I try and avoid it. I hate advertising (oh, I found a proper hate!) 41. What is your worst habit? / Not getting enough sleep. 42. How many dogs do you have? / One big fluffy husky :) 43. Does someone have a crush on you? / I hope that I’m married to her! 45. What is your favorite book? / Stardust is right up there, but so is Wicked, Alice in Wonderland, Dune, Year of Wonders, Harry Potter, Interview With the Vampire. I could go on… 46. What is your favorite candy? / Chocolate. Nearly any sort will do… 47. What is your favorite sports team? / Sports schmorts. I’d rather do than watch, and team stuff wasn’t as satisfying as individual stuff. 48. What song do you want played at your funeral? / I’m planning not to die. 49. What were you doing at 12 AM last night? / Actually sleeping for a change. 50. What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up this morning? / Damn, my dreams evaporated too quickly. So now it’s your turn…!

At the moment, I’m having to be strong for a number of reasons and so today I needed to find something that would help me through. I knew exactly where to look for it and it worked yet again. I’m writing it in here just in case anyone else needs a little bit of extra strength just now…When we resolve to lift our life to its highest level, the strength of our soul guides us. It’s up to each of us to develop the courage to walk this way…and here’s the story I read again today…from ‘The Monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma” Once, in ancient India, there was an evil giant who owned a magnificent castle overlooking the sea. As the giant had been away for many years, fighting in wars, the children of the nearby village used to come into the giant’s beautiful garden and play with great delight. One day, the giant returned and threw all of the children out of his garden. He then erected a huge marble wall around the garden to keep the children out. / Winter came with bitter cold and the giant wished the warmth would soon return. Spring visited the village that lay below the giant’s castle, but the icy claws of winter refused to leave his garden. Then, one day, the giant finally smelled the fragrances of spring and felt the radiance of the sun through his windows. He ran into his garden. The children of the village had somehow managed to climb over the castle wall and were playing in the garden. It was because of their presence that the garden had been transformed from a wintry wasteland into a lush place filled with roses, daffodils and orchids. All the children laughed and giggled but one. The giant spotted a little boy who was much smaller than all the other children. Tears ran from his eyes as he didn’t have the strength to climb the wall into the garden. Suddenly the giant regretted his evil ways and ran towards the little boy to help him. The other children fled fearing for their lives but the tiny little boy stood his ground. ‘I will slay the giant’ he stammered. ‘I will defend our playground.’ / As the giant approached the child, he opened his arms. ‘I am a friend’ he said. ‘I have come to help you over the wall and into the garden. This will be your garden now.’ / The little boy was happy and was now a hero to the other children. He gave the giant his gold necklace and said ‘This is my lucky charm. I want you to have it.’ / From that day on the children played with the giant in his wonderful garden. But the brave little boy whom the giant loved the most didn’t return. As time went on the giant gre ill and frail. In those days it was the little boy who the giant thought of the most. / One day in the middle of a bitter winter, the giant saw a miraculous sight. Though most of the garden was covered in snow, at the centre stood a magnificent rosebush overflowing with spectacularly coloured flowers. Next to the roses stood the little boy who the giant loved. The boy was smiling sweetly. The giant danced with delight and rushed outside to embrace the child. ‘Where have you been all these years, my young friend? I’ve missed you with all my heart’ / The boy was thoughtful in his response ‘Many years ago you lifted me over the wall into your magical garden. Now, I have come to take you into mine.’ / Later that day, when the children came to visit the giant they found him lying lifeless on the ground. From head to toe, he was covered by a thousand beautiful roses…. Always be brave like the little boy. Stand your ground and follow your dreams. They will lead you to your destiny. Follow your destiny, it will lead you into the wonders of the universe. And always follow the wonders of the universe, for they will lead you to a special garden filled with roses.

It was late…. a hot summer’s night. I arrived home to a dark, empty house, and a slow walk up the garden path, telling the kids to wait in the car until I got a light on. We entered the house and I set about getting the kids ready for bath and bed. Unbenown to me, someone had followed me into the house. Under the cover of darkness he had been lurking in the garden and used my tired state to assist him in entering my safe little home. / And he was about to make his presence felt. The back of my neck prickled and I rubbed it, thinking my shirt label was annoying me. Nothing there. Then I felt it. He put his arms up my shirt and ran his fingers down my spine. / I froze. His small hairy hands tickled my back, gently, tenderly. Deceptive. I called my son for help. / “I think I have something in my shirt,” I said, “Can you check?” / I held up the back of my shirt and he took one look, screamed and ran from the room. Does the colloquial expression “I damn near shit myself” spring to mind? / (I promise I did not..er…do that….... but there was a bit of a frantic leap in the air and a strange dance…....arms flapping….as I had to separate this huntsman spider from my person! LOL / But then, I did the right thing and put this big hairy guy back out in the garden where he belonged, unharmed…... though maybe he was as scarred by his experience as I was!!!

Thankyou to everybody for your replys to my journal: / Which DSLR should I buy ? If you havent seen all the feedback please take look. Its very interesting. Now where do I start ? / These are some of the sites you have recomended to have a look at / ephotozine.com / dpreview.com / photography-on-the.net / bhphotovideo.com / photozone Which brand is best ? / There are many to choose from, the top two are Canon & Nikon, followed by Pentax ,Fuji & Sony. / Once you have chosen a brand its a good idea to stick with that brand. As you buy lenses and build an expensive collection you only need to upgrade the body. Which model should I choose ? / Choose a model that feels good in your hand. Feel the grip & the weight as you play with it. Choose one that has the features you wish to use. No point buying one that has all the bells & whistles if you are not going to use them. How much should I pay ? / How much can you afford? There are some great cameras out there for all budgets. I like the idea of Buying a body that suits your budget & upgrade later when you can afford to. Then spend more on quality lenses. Maybe buy a second hand body & spend more on new quality lenses. I hope this has helped those of you who are in the market for a new DSLR. I’m still looking at the moment & have not decided on one. All this information has helped me to see what to look for. I hope to have a new toy soon. I will keep you updated with the decisions I make. If you buy a new camera soon, please let me know why you made this choice & share your story with everybody. Cheers, / Glenn / / PLEASE VIEW MY GALLERY @ Glenn Alderson Photography

Still very fresh @ RedBubble, but I have already seen artists doing promotion of their artwork in many ways. One that has caught my attention was with making an entry in the journals section about the works featured at RedBubble groups, and posting “thank you” entries in the group writings, respectively. I guess this is partially the point of journals, so I will follow the trends, this time without leaving marks at group pages, cluttering only my own journal entries. :) / Anyway, I would really like to know what you think about it ? / Is it only about promoting or we should try sharing more, helping people to discover some new techniques becoming more knowledgeable in what their interests are. I believe these pages will not be visited by professionals only, but also people who follow their passion about art and trying to be more involved and informed about lifting their artwork some levels up ! much for your great comments and encouraging words. I’m not going to follow up with every comment made on my work, because it’s too much, but I appreciate your comments and especially your critiques very much. / My step-daughter and (nearly) son-in-law will be coming up for the weeked—haven’t seen her for 4 or 5 years! Hope they can handle my half-packed up house! lol, if not, I can ship her home early, like I did when she was a kid one time. (It only took once.) / I slept all day, then we took a friend and her two kids to dinner for her B’day, and finally, I hope, got our money back on a keyboard… I’ll have to write that story up because it’s funny in its un-funniness. Hugs to all! And especially to my brat sis! -=Dayonda

Hey All, Well I’ve given in to the temptation called twitter.. and I have to say I am absolutely hooked on it.. I’ve already made a few sales through it.. and I only have 348 people following me.. lol If you are on twitter.. please add me and I’ll add you! http://twitter.com/paulmp In other news, I’ve been working on a new design for http://paulmp.com.au, just wondering if people can visit it and give me some feedback.. I know it doesn’t work properly in Internet Explorer, I’m still working on the compatibility code for IE.. it tests fine in Firefox and Chrome though. All feedback appreciated! - paul / http://www.paulmp.com.au

Why is it that guidelines just are not observed? Today I removed a shirt so I could put up another in the group of Best T-Shirts, only ONE WORK PER MEMBER. Tonight I see that there are new members that have put up plentiful of their works. I am a group owner myself and as a group member I find it important that the guidelines are read and OBSERVED, that’s what makes a member a MEMBER.. Sure, sometimes it’s not easy. But groups that are called “Best” of something have the guidelines in their name already. So what’s so difficult about it? The Alphabet? I shake my head and hope for better times… Greets / Deri
