  • TITLE OF ARTWORK: / SPOOKY OWL ARTWORK CREATED ON: Paper APPROXIMATE SIZE: 8.5”x11” inches. MATERIALS USED: Acrylics, Watercolors , White-Out Pen , Markers. Signed by the artist and completed in January 2007. ABOUT THIS: Up in the trees in a dark winters day. The sun is setting and the cold wind is blowing. It starts to snow and you hear the empty echo of where you are. The snow is creating a heavy fog. You can not see. You stumble around trying to move through the fog and snow but you fall victim to the harsh conditions. You suddenly fall paralyzed on the cold hard ground. In your last moments you hear wings flap and the loud screech of an owl.

  • When I first came to Redbubble, I only had a couple pieces to post. I always reduced the size of my photos before editing them(making them too small for here), just didn’t have a reason to keep them full size until Redbubble. Anyways, I threw this pic up, just so I had more than 2 posted. I didn’t really even like it. The original shot’s exposure was all kinds of screwed up. I edited so much, I was just plain sick of it. But like I said, it was a filler pic. I sooo did not expect the amount of attention it received, much less that it sold. I’ve actually grown to really like it too. So I thought I’d share this, and the original shot with everyone. So here it is: This piece was my very first sold piece. It was also chosen for the Featured Art Page (before group featuring), featured in A Photographer’s Craft group, and was a finalist in the May US Scenic Photo Contest. Thank You!! —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / This piece can be found in my Abandoned Calendar. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— If you like these, check out the rest of my Rural America Series

  • This is an original acrylic painting. / Painted on gallery wrapped canvas and is 16”x 20” in over all size unframed. I spray all of my paintings with a final protective professional varnish. This in one of the paintings from my “Native American Woman Series”. Part of my childhood was spent growing up near the Rosebud Reservation north of Valentine, Nebraska. As a child I became captivated with the colors, the dress, the celebrations and the dignity of the people. Thank you for viewing my art. / View susan’sgallery / View susan’szazzle

  • views: 863 / favs: 23 My origami calendar / / I feel my heart being pulled when we are not together, / Longing for the day we are with each other. / The thread between us will never break; / Our destinies are tied by the red string of fate. / / The red string of fate is based on a Chinese myth that the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women destined to be soulmates. This myth is has been adapted into other east asian cultures as well. I first became familiar with it by watching anime; though in those cases, one would attempt to match up couples by tying their fingers. This image, while on one hand based on that Chinese legend, is one that defines me. With the red thread forming the heart, I frame what is currently my greatest passion: miniature origami. I fold using tweezers, and sometimes with needles (I show a needle here, though for these hearts I only used tweezers as they are not that small). The hearts of paper and string, while representing my passion, also represent my soul, and how my fate is bound by the constraints of life. I’m in my own little world bound by a thread of fate; though my passion lies in a world of paper. While most women primarily use needles for sowing; I primarily use them for tiny origami :P I would adjust the position of the objects here with tweezers, and sometimes got magnetic reactions between the tweezers and the needle. They say opposites attrack… but they are both metal :] Each heart was folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper. Taken with an Olympus FE-340. Great for Valentines day or as love letters, because you and your loved ones were destined by fate. • BEST VIEWED LARGE / \ / My last upload for a little while, here she is the Music Box Dancer from a drawing, digitally coloured. The words in the background are my own handwriting as I wanted the emphasis to be on sending out postive message for little girls and big girls: shine SHINE Shine, be giving, LOVE yourself, love OTHERS, dance your way through LIFE, you are beautiful, be joyous, you are LOVED, sing your SONG, your heart is free, be glad, trust, HOPE, live, LOVE, BELIEVE, shine your light the message is twofold….for little girls, very simply it’s sending a clear message of positive reinforcement, were it to be something they have in their room or receive for a birthday, i just wanted to give them a boost and a reminder to love themselves and live life to the full. To go with that line of thinking I’ve included the beautiful Music Box Dancer video on youtube by The Wiggles with a video of a little girl, a bit like this one, dancing….and The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur, and Captain Feathersword are all there too for your viewing and listening pleasure. do you remember the music box dancer in your music box…? you would open up the box, and there she was, she would pop up as you lifted the lid…in her little tutu, pirouetting round and round to the sound of the ‘music box dancer’ or some other pretty tune, she kept guard over all your hidden treasures in the jewellery box, I’ve tried to recreate the look and feel of that little icon here with her white tulle tutu skirt beneath, princess-style sleeves and golden hand-beaded bodice and pretty golden string of pearls she is both young and innocent, wide eyed…but also older and wiser, so that I hope she would appeal to girls of every age and in every stage of life the other side of the coin, I want to encourage grown up girls who have struggled and find life hard going at times, as a reminder that they are beautiful, that one can develop and nurture resilience and strength through everyday focus and meditation on positive messages and looking for the good in life…even if it’s only miniscule, it can grow… and to go with that line of thought, i have included a link to Missy Higgins song, which I love so much called Sugar Cane which is about the baby ballerina that lives inside us the year was 1972 and just for fun here’s a pic of me when i was 7 and just tiny tot at ballet (i’d been going since I was 4 years old..our first review I was in “The Fairy Around the Christmas tree and we wore a white singlet with little white scarves all sewn into it to make the skirt and of course a little halo of silver tinsel about the head lol) we looked like baby elephants, so ungraceful, but all the mums and dads and we ourselves thought we were very wonderful! which one am I? ... the littlest one on the far right at the back…that’s me….one of the other girls is my best friend (from childhood) we’ve lost touch now…i won’t give her name, but she was/played Amy the Bear in Bananas in Pyjamas for a few years.. she and her sister were magic dancers and always got the lead roles, i was forever in obscurity, in their shadow….and even here…although the smallest of the lot…there i be, right in the back…where I’m most comfortable :) and one more for the road…can you believe this is me!! lol ..and i must mention that my mum painted the pegboard behind me there, and we’d hang our toys from it to tidy up…using golf tees in the holes as pegs…so innovative and clever she is…full of ‘making do with whatever we had’ kind of ideas… /
