A Susan Epps Oliver original 2008. All rights reserved This work was derived from basically a happy snap taken whilst out walking on Skyline Drive in Virginia. The night I worked on it was stormy and kind of eerie so I decided to imagine how the bridge might have looked on that night. I used the fractalius filter ( Photoshop plug-in ) to give the stringiness to the foliage and then played with many variations in brightness/contrast, colour etc until I arrived at the effect I wanted. It was about 3 hours work which included cloning out stuff which I thought made the image look cluttered. Other Shenandoah Images Waiting for Spring Blue Mountain Scrub Blue Ridge

This work was featured in Live, Love, Dream. A cool change from the warm summer weather. Created entirely in Photoshop using brushes and layer styles. The background was a project I began 3 months ago but completely forgot about :D

Original Background Photo / It took me about 3 hours to figure out what to do with the original shot, and another 3 to complete it. I had to improvise with with brushes (i.e – the mermaid’s tail is two plant leaves worked together), but I think it turned out OK. Based on a story I wrote a few years ago about a mermaid being the guardian of dawn. / / Foliage brushes created by me from photos I’ve taken.

This wonderful bridge was sitting nicely in the fall colors and reflecting in the water. It made me smile just to look at something so peaceful! / / /
