This calendar was created with various monochrome images from around the Atlantic province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Many of the images are nautical in nature including fishing boats, a wharf, abandoned shacks, an island in the mist, and other foggy images. Many of the images have a vintage nostalgic atmospheric feeling to them. Some are sepia-toned while others are pure black and white photos. All images were taken by photographer and digital artist, Scott Ruhs.

I’ve had a wonderful time shooting at Ten Oaks Stables this year. The manager and owner are both friends and have been gracious enough to give free rein. Here are some of the results of that happy collaboration between horse and man….or in this case woman.

The sounds of the fog horns from ships calling out in the pacific. It rolls in with great silence and sends butterflies through my stomach. / The fog makes for a great mystery. / I love the fog in Vancouver. I walk in silence . . . / wandering. / fog horns sound behind me / so very close . . . Inhale, exhale / I hear every breath . . . / wondering. / I sit, breathing in the silence / wandering no more.
