Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.

One of the benefits of doing night shift in winter time is getting home sometime past 7am after a cold night at work and being greeted by this wonderful sight. / The scattered eucalyptus in farm paddocks appearing out of the mist. / I have had this image on my computer for quite some time and I liked it (sort of) but the frame of mind never quite took me to do anything with it til now. / It didnt quite do it for me, so I decided to b&w it today. So I did the b&w thing, then cropped the top of it and then thought… “hey I like that crop, I wonder what it looks like in colour?” / So I went back to the colour and gave it the same crop and here it is. This image was shot at dawn. I waited on the lake in the dark in my kayak until the sun started to peer over the horizon and the mist I had been kayaking through became evident. The silence was golden. This is the picture I have in my head of that moment, a place I want to return to over and over again.

This was taken at a dam in Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills, Australia in winter at dawn. We don’t get any snow in Adelaide, as our summers are very hot. There is still some fog around on the water. This is pure bliss to me. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera, on a tripod. This was taken because of the mood created with the fog, the winter sunlight lighting up the boat and the 3 waterfowl swimming in the opposite direction to the boat.

Wasn’t sure about this one but it got rave reviews over at NAture Photographers forum so here ya go. IT may not be everyones cup of tea. A stand of tall fir trees in the Cascade Mountains near Snoqualmie Pass nearly veiled in white clouds and snow of a spring storm.
