I have a few favorite places in the US… The Teton Mountain Range in Wyoming, Glacier National Park in Montana, and practically the whole “Last Frontier” state of Alaska… I also love the feel that fog can give an image… combine two of these elements… and here you have Denali National Park in Alaska on a foggy morning… The fog was hanging really low across the valley floor and also across the mountain tops….
This pine forest really felt very primeval today with a super growth of lichen on the trees, and the mist rolling in. I liked the contrast that the fresh fern provided in this image. Really thick fog …couldnt see far …only some sharpening done to this!!
There are times when you happen to come across an unexpected scene. This was how I found this scene, traveling a different way to a meeting, I past a local lookout and got a surprise. The closer I looked, my lens found something different to photograph. I hope you like the image.
The heavy fog touches everything with its damp fingers, leaving behind beautiful traces of crystal clear water beads. This spider web was on the railing of a kiosk (gazebo) overlooking the St. Lawrence river in Candiac, Quebec. Normally, one would be able to see the water and some foliage in the background, but not this time. There was only the damp grey mass of fog preventing any reflection from appearing in the little droplets. 55mm, ISO-100, 1/200 sec, F/8 / Nikon D60 / AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR Featured in Arachnids on November 12, 2008. Spent the weekend along the beautiful Snoma Coast. It rained almost the entire time so those sunsets I was hoping for did not happen. Did get some opportunity for fog shots though. This field was next to a house my daughter was staying in just acrss the road from the ocean.

“I don’t ask for the meaning of the song of a bird or the rising of the sun on a misty morning. There they are, and they are beautiful.”~ Pete Hamill Taken in the late summer in the early morning in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. If your wondering what that is in the road, it’s my dog, Jakers (a Foxhound mix) who was taking a snooze and refused to move for the shot. smiles Often times in these mountains the only sun you will see rising is what is trying to burn through the heavy mist… Top Ten Challenges: / BARNS & Old Grist Mills and Covered Bridges from around the World!-Winner of the ‘09 Nov., A BARN & LANDSCAPE scene Challenge Best from Around the Barnyard- ‘09 November Avatar Challenge Featured in: / Dilapidated Buildings / Playful Photogenic Animals-Nov 09 / —-—- / Geno’s Choice “Old Things Group” Foggy Morning in the Mountains… by Linda Costello Hinchey / “I love the foggy morning. We don’t get much of that here and I really love the fog. The dog not moving for the shot seems to really add to the whole image. Congratulations!” Dec 2009
Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 17-70 lens at 17mm, F11, shutter speed 1/60 seconds, ISO320, processed in Photoshop On Monday I had the opportunity to be in the Ribble Valley around sunrise, this is a view of Pendle Hill in the distance from near the Aspinall Arms at Mitton, the river Ribble can be seen to the right of the shot. staying over at a friends place and waking up at sparrows fart to a total whiteout… the deep heavy fog was so devine and walking through it around one of the little dams was so lovely… this is what the ghostly reflections looked like in the water… I find it interesting that the reflections seem more solid than the trees and scrubby bush that are being reflected….. anyway it’s a magical place and I love to go there and spend a little time…
