This is my daughters horse and he is terribly photogenic. But … and a big but. I am not a photographer (I write) and this was taken by a friend while she was visiting (so of course it is not for sale).

This is taken by Paul so please all credit to him (unless we get credit for raising the foal, but that should really go Genevieve – the mare – as she did all that work). The foal is Kennedy (the stallion is Fiddler).

Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.

Speckled pony foal – I believed it was a Shetland pony, as it was with its mother at the time and she looked like a Shetland pony. However, the Shetland Pony experts in the UK have emailed me to tell me there is no such thing as spotted Shetlands so there we are! ;o) All I know is I just wanted to pick up the cute critter and take him home with me. New Forest, Hampshire, England.

This young Country Foal seems to be enjoying all the attention on his first Show with his Mama, as long as she’s right beside him. One of the exhibits at the Annual Agricultaral Fair held at Buskett Gardens, Malta, every 29th of June, on Mnarja Day.

Missy, a chestnut Miniature Pony, caring for her new born filly foal. Many foals are born during the night, but this one arrived in the late afternoon/early evening and I was priviledged to be present to not only witness, but also photograph the ever new miracle of the birth of a beautiful foal. I was actually on my way, that day, to photograph the young Kookaburras in the late afternoon light, when I noticed Missy lying down, about to give birth. I forgot the Kookaburras and spent the next couple of hours photographing the whole birth process, the mare cleaning her foal, the foal’s struggles to get to her feet and stay on them and eventually, her first drink. Olympia, Washington Driving home from town, I saw this mare with her foal grazing out in the field. What a beautiful picture they made as I watched them. They came over to the fence to greet me and my Spring day became one to remember. Wild horses in Utah’s west desert. This guy was just hours old. After walking with the horses on my way back to the truck I came acrosss the birthing site. The evidence from the birth was still on the ground fairly fresh. After I got home and had reviewed my photos I realized it was not mud on the mother. I realized that this baby had to have been born that morning. I just missed it!
