It was a very wet Easter ‘08 in the Southern NSW Highlands – but all was not in vain! There was a lot of mist and rustic charm about the place. While taking this photo of the entrance to a rural property the owner suddenly materialised out of the mist and spooked the hell out of me. Thankfully he wasn’t carrying a pitchfork and didn’t seem to mind too much!

To enter the Country Bumpkins’ conest of fence photos, I went straight to this shot from last summer on the Netherlands’ coast. The sand dunes offer a very fragile surface for the grass to put down roots. Something as heavy as a person walking on the sandy slopes will move that sand underfoot, killing the tenuous efforts of the grass to live there. So, the fence is there as a plea for people to walk only on the path. The fence may be old and battered, but the message remains strong.
A friend and I road tripped through central South Dakota a few summers ago and got to chase this rainbow for about an hour down Highway 14. I pulled over to take this picture of the bow over a ripened wheat field with drops of rainwater still glistening on the points of the barbed wire fence.
Photography rosina Poem Alyssa adgray / Over the fence / It’s green beyond the fence / spacious wide sunny free / there’s room to dream and watch it grow / to move and think and breathe shall we run shall we dance / shall we sing at the top of our voices! / exhausted fall side by side in the grass / make the castles in the air out of what ifs pick me flowers make silly chains / swear we’ll never break our pact / the suns gone in and we run for the trees / over the fence and never look back

Delapidated farm fence – or what was left of it! In fact the barbed wire and the hedgerow were holding it up. Definitely had seen better days!
