I was lucky to catch a butterfly as he left the flower. Full of nectar, off in the breeze he went.
This guy was fly fishing in a lake at the top of a mountain in Vermont. Luckily I had carried my 500mm lens all the way to the top along with my tripod. i was able to get this from a distance of ~ 350m.
There are 5,200 varieties of fly in Britain and Ireland; this is just one.
Dung fly larvae feed on dung but the adults drink nectar. However they have well developed teeth and are capable of killing other flies, even of their own species, for food.

While honing up on my aerial photography assignment during a recent flight over western New England (approx. 1,500 feet up), Eye Spied upon this bloke (one, among many) slicing a signature in a cold, coastal inlet near Bridgeport, Connecticut; this dude was MOVIN’! —But so were we; I had about 3 seconds to know what Eye was seeing, raise the camera & lock focus in a heavily vibrating airplane before we had to bank away port (leaning left turn): Eye Got The Shot! ;>

The mid-day sun at Morro Bay, CA created this unusual back lighting effect on the pelican and caused reflections to look like bursts of light.
