Developed and built by Panavia, a tri-national consortium consisting of British Aerospace (then the British Aircraft Corporation), MBB of West Germany, and Alenia Aeronautica of Italy, the Tornado first flew on August 14, 1974. / The Tornado GR4 is a variable geometry, two-seat, day or night, all-weather attack aircraft, capable of delivering a wide variety of weapons. Powered by two Rolls-Royce RB 199 Mk 103 turbofan engines, the GR4 is capable of low-level supersonic flight and can sustain a high subsonic cruise speed. The aircraft can fly automatically at low level using terrain-following radar when poor weather prevents visual flight. / XV (R) Squadron / Elvington, York / Aug. 2005

The sun goes down on the only remaining English Electric Lightning at the former RAF station at Binbrook, Lincolnshire, UK. Binbrook’s Lightnings provided quick reaction cover for UK airspace during the Cold War, and the Squadrons based there were the last to operate the type. Lightnings were retired from RAF service at the end of the 1980s. RAF Binbrook closed down upon their retirement. A proportion of the sales of this image will go to the Dave Cole Memorial Fund. Pump your jets and fly… Jetpack fuel = / read, walk, hang with friends, learn, play music, sing to yourself, not just buying mindless pop music, sit through a whole Noam Chompsky recording without dozing off, eat healthy, eat chocolate, getting lost in nature, getting saved by hot emerency helicopter crew, going on unexpected helicopter flights, write a short story, read Murakami Huraki and not find the idea of a imaginary man in a sheep suit strange, give up smoking, give to the poor, shoot the breeze, doodle on a phone book, tell your friends you have a disease and see who sends you food + gifts… gawking at trees, using your other hand to draw with, using a mouse from the 90’s. My son turned to watch in disbelief and amazement as his toy plane actually took flight in the living room. After grazing my head it eventually crashed and burned near the end table. Both have been grounded ever since…. This is straight out of the camera. Nothing is attached to the airplane. The secret to the shot lies in the EXIF data which I have provided below. Camera: Canon EOS 40D / Exposure: 1/3200 sec / Aperture: f/2.2 / Focal Length: 50 mm / ISO Speed: 3200 / Exposure Bias: 0 EV / Flash: Flash did not fire
I’m not sure what we have for fuel but it makes me happy. /

I have traveled far and beyond all you know. / I have felt that which could not be felt. / I have seen that which is most hidden. / I have touched that which is forbidden. Few have seen what I seen. / Fewer still ever know. I have seen holes in the fabric of the Universe. / I have felt time frozen and all identity lost. / I knew not who am I, where or what am I, and yet I was. / I was a thought, a light, a spark, a vision. I was the Thing inside my vision. I was the very word that tried to describe it. I was lost and I have found myself. Words cannot describe it. / So I cannot. But I WAS THERE! I can swear it. / And yes, I can go there again. / Anytime! Soon…
