Loch Scammadale in Argyll.
Private trout stream somewhere in northern Michigan. I stood still for twenty minutes upstream from this capture. The resident brown trout from the undercut bank on the left hand side came out one and two at a time to sun themselves on the sandy stream bottom. There were many, though couldn’t get a shot as any movement from above would hasten their retreat to the safe cover of the snowy bank.

one of the many sites you will see coming thru the great smoky mountains. trout fishing. couldnt have asked for better timing, having a fisherman set in the right gear, the water, and lighting. / i shot this in black and white, it has not been converted , and yes i do have color, that will be uploaded later, but i wanted something different ;), and this was shot with my new 17-85mm lens :) i love it already :):)
trout fishing is a huge thing to do in the great smoky mountains. this fly fisherman had on the perfect gear of what one would think of when thinking of fly fishing. the rain started coming down lightly, and i did get a few shots of him fishing in the rain in BW also :)

Rainbow trout plucked from one of my favorite trout streams in northern Michigan. The light, moss, my quarry, the mushrooms and one fine instrument provided an idyllic backdrop for this image.

Wild fish need wild places that is why fly fishermam are often all so a conservationist. the mobile nature of fly fishing means we see parts of rivers that no one else will and are quick to spot problems such as poor river health ilegal water use and pollusion.
In the New Mexico lowlands there are great stretches of arid landscape that can support only cacti and the hardiest succulents and grasses. But add an above-ground water source and you’ll find a riotous entanglement of Screwbean Mesquite, New Mexico Olive, Desert Hackberry, Mexican Elder, and myriad other understory trees and shrubs. Towering over all will likely be a double-lined canopy of majestic cottonwoods. Besides being the keystone plant for an amazingly diverse habitat, these iconic trees also put on a vivid coat of yellow and gold in the fall, providing a unique and beautiful backdrop that contrasts magnificently with the subtle desert palette that is more commonly seen here. Pentax K20D, 3-shot HDR, variable shutter speeds @ F8, ISO 100, 110mm.
