  • Airbrushed and mixed media My Work Was Featured In Fantasy Art / (Thanks Everyone) Read the Collaboration of Written Work by Tony Hedger Part 2 of 2 / The way to get there is many in choice, / But a good first step is the inner voice. / By air, or water, by earth or fire, / Fairyland is your hearts desire. There you are free, all you can be, / And everything is real. / You could sit for a while, / Upon a sundial, / And chase the rays of the light, / You could float on the air, / Without any care, / Or fly with butterfly wings. / Buzz with the bees, and fly through the trees, / Float down with the falling leaves. You could go on a boat, / Through sparkling waters, / Made out of the shell of a tortoise. / Sit in the ring where the fairies all sing, / Drink, dance, fairy fling. / Diddle on the fiddle, play fairy in the middle, / Sparkle, shine, drink buttercup wine. / T’is close, you must believe, / Just follow the voice from within. Excerpt from poem, To Journey to Fairyland / By Joannda Riche Created in Photoshop, hand created images and mixed media. • In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Plus, I love herons anyway…so, it just seemed fitting to add one to this piece. :) (Original, 11×17 300dpi) / FULL VIEW RECOMMENDED* —-—- Stock Credits: model: mjranum-stock http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/art/Little-Black-Goth-5-59785430 / Boat and water: sxc.hu http://www.sxc.hu/photo/937674 / wing brushes: faeth-design http://faeth-design.deviantart.com/art/Wing-Brush-74055731 / textures: my own ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires / My artwork and photos do not belong to the public domain

They visit us daily, and follow me along the trail whenever I go for a walk. I could be 3 property lines over and they will still follow me! It is not unusual for them to land on the end of my camera lens as I’m trying to frame a photo, or flutter around my legs, looking for their sunflower seeds. These little songbirds bring me more joy than I can ever truly express. What a gift they are! I would be filled with great sadness if they ever disappeared. They are a huge part of my passion for nature & wildlife photography and for capturing the beauty that surrounds us everywhere. This image was created by merging 2 of my chickadee in flight photos and then blending the sky together. • A belated description. / This is an ode to unhealthy relationships. Not the ones where you have an argument every once in a while, or maybe lots of little ones all over the place, but otherwise everything is peachy keen. This is to the other kind, even or uneven, where one or the other has to protect themselves, in all kinds of ways. Do they stay and learn how to take it, or protect themselves better? Or do they lose everything except their freedom and fly away? I have placed the ‘fight’ bride in a small area that is cramped and hard to breathe, holding her dress and hair up as a barrier. Whereas our ‘flight’ bride has lots of space to move, is making herself free of the confines of the dress, taking down the barrier. • Best On Full Size “You choose to go voluntarily into the fire. The blaze might well destroy you. But if you survive, every blow of the hammer will serve to shape your being. Every drop of water wrung from you will temper and strengthen your soul.” -Margaret Weis, Soulforge (finished posting image at 1:30 am 12/10/09) A compilation of two of my images. The eagle was taken on November 21, 2009 at Conowingo Dam in Conowingo Maryland with fellow RedBubblers Mike Rucci , BigD , and Lori Deiter with the Nikon D300 and the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens (at 300mm). The sky image was taken on April 12, 2008 in Montgomery County, Maryland, during an amazing and unusual sunset with the Nikon D40x and the 18-135mm Nikon lens. Several layers of both images combined in Photshop at various blendings and opacities. Dodging and burning and a faint dry brush filter applied to my birdie friend rounded out the fun.
