A female Rufeous Hummingbird hovering over a Red Hot Poker while bather in the golden light of the setting sun. I like this image because it is the only one I have ever taken where the hummer turned and made eye contract with the camera.

This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before she realized she wasn’t interested in tulips. / Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, with a Canon 20D. I was trying the macro setting on my 70-300mm lens in a field of flowers surrounded by these buzzing Bumbles. I am definetly going to invest in a dedicated macro lens… any suggestions as to what to get? I use a Canon 400D.

This is a Sea King Helicopter belonging to 771 Squadron S&R, RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall. They had just done a display with the Lifeboats at the Dawlish Air Show, 20/08/09.
