  • A eroded piece of lava rock being pushed to and fro by the ebb and flow of the tides along a Maui beach.

  • Dip Falls Tasmania. Over time the constant flow of water over this hill has created an intricate network of individual stones which all huddle together as one. It would seem that this fallen tree has discovered the keystone – the one which holds all the others together under the onslaught of rushing water – and rises up to lend its love, strength and protection to this precious individual. A flight of fancy on my part? Perhaps… but it is a beautiful thought, and what I will always see when I look at this image. Landscapes Black and White Artistic Creations Sisters Beach Series

  • The inspiration for Meltdown came from the fascination of watching candles drip and a lava lamp flow. The image is drawn using high quality coloured pencils on to smooth surface cartridge paper. See more of my images at www.deborahholman.co.uk

  • Flowing Textures A study on how the soul likes to fly, transported by the flowing shapes in our surroundings. We all carry within us a deep need to feel involved in all possible visual trips, trying to soothe the unstoppable impulse to run away… José Ramos My portfolio—> JoseRamos.net

  • A rushing creek and a few fallen leaves taking a brief respite from thier rapid trip downriver via breeze and rushing water. The rocks offer a brief sacntuary before they are swept away into the coming winter.

  • Polar Bear mum and her two cubs rest together on an ice floe. / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hunt! • According to colour therapy, this piece speaks of holding onto your inner truth as the true source of confidence, self-love, and ultimately your potential. It encourages you to turn away from outside influence and fears, and to hold on to the belief in your ideas, self, and dreams. In effect, this work then encourages a revelation of your true source of your happiness, thereby allowing your potential to flow and flourish. • Another upload to my recent Magnetic Island collection..Taken shortly after the shot below…Magnetic Island is a small island off the coast of Nth. Queensland, a playground for the lucky Townsvillians…thanks for looking.

  • A good friend first showed me this part of the world but the other day I went there alone and explored. I found a rewarding sight a little further along the beach. I’ll make sure she gets to know about it. . / . / . / .

  • Tumut River in infrared.

  • I headed down to the Schank after work the other morning just before our recent storms rolled in. It’s turned mighty cold all of a sudden with our best rainfalls all year, not to mention snow on the peaks. Winter is on it’s way….Bring it on I say..!!

  • Part of the “Out of Place” series exploring the culture / nature divide – our alienation from nature. I find it perplexing just how easily we humans get mesmerised by work that is often intrinsically meaningless and the virtual world which seems mainly mired in trivia. It’s all the more strange when you consider that the bulk of humanity has only lived in cities for less than 100 years. Prior to that, for countless millennia the natural world was all we knew. / I spend hours in the Park and it’s interesting watching the way other people relate to it. For example, this set of falls is literally 1 minute off the main road through the Park. There are 3 sets of fall each more majestic than the one before. And yet the average amount of time that people spend here I’ve noticed is less than than 10 minutes. 10 minutes!! And then off home to get ready for work or to sit down and watch 4 hours of T.V. / I / just / don’t / get / it. / Still – one advantage – fewer people to bugger up my shots. / Anyway this is part of a series attempting to portray this collective psychosis of our species. Yes she is actually sitting there on top of a 30m waterfall – not photoshopped- very brave I thought, though we did take the wheels off the chair so she didn’t go sailing over. This journal contains the second in a series of tutorials I have written. Each page is A4 size @ 100 dpi for easy printing. There are five pages in all. Just click on the image to download each page as a .jpg file. Note that this tutorial is for private use only and copyright protection is in force. If you would like to upload it to your blog, please bmail me first for permission, do not just assume you have it. Thanks very much, I hope you find it useful, Simone :) Disclaimer Please bare in mind this tutorial was written for those who have very little experience with, or knowledge of Photoshop. It is in no way a definitive guide to using photoshop, it is however a great starting point for those who are just beginning and feel overwhelmed with the complexities of more advanced tutorials. It is also NOT a substitute for good sound photography skills. It will not magically turn a poorly taken image into a spectacular one, only time, experience, patience and practice with your camera will do that.
