Emily Dickinson again: The daisy follows soft the sun, / And when his golden walk is done, / Sits shyly at his feet. / He, waking, finds the flower near. / “Wherefore, marauder, art thou here?” / “Because, sir, love is sweet!” / / We are the flower, Thou the sun! / Forgive us, if as days decline, / We nearer steal to Thee, / Enamoured of the parting west, / The peace, the flight, the amethyst, / Night’s possibility!

/ / Island Dreams Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper Dedication – to Jack during my recent holiday I had time to relax and meditate, to connect with nature….this is an expression of my impression of Tangalooma. There are dolphins there, with whom i connected daily and a lot of sealife, including birds, seastars, rays, fish…. the original drawing is gifted to Jack, a fellow artist i met on Tangalooma and now friend, who really appreciated this drawing so much, that I felt greatly encouraged….
plastic flower arrangement i painted in high school (once upon a time) with cheap prang student grade watercolor pans. / . / please don’t hate me but i used to think i was a better artist than my art teacher in high school.. ;P / he decided that he’d like to help me and painted a cluster of tiny flowers… i hated it… i hated him… / i hated him with all my mighty passion for ruining my piece (but only for this reason)... respected him for many other things. / the style’s so different from the rest of the painting, / but i had to finish in the style he’s started… . / prang watercolor on french arches paper / 21”x 29” .
One of my very first macro’s way back when!!! Re-processed-slight change in hue/colour Water drop on a flowers petal Canon 400D / canon 100mm usm macro lens
Daisies reflected in a water drop on a flower petal / Taken with a Canon EOS 400D and 150mm macro lens /
Shot with Canon EOS 350D with Canon EFS 60mm f/2.8 macro lens. / Straight from camera.
I had never noticed a flower in this state of decline before. The petals had browned and curled over on the ends and it actually looked more visually striking than a healthy bloom on the same bush. This floral montage was created in Paint Shop Pro by enlarging and cropping the original photo and making it the base layer. Then I extracted the flower from it’s background and placed it on the layer above, at 100 % scale. I adjusted the Layer Modes to soften the contrast of the enlarged Layer, so that the small original stood out from the background image.

Spring has sprung in my part of the world … I know there’s an abundance of blossom shots about but I thought there was room for one more :-)
