  • Summer Time! © Cadence Gamache

  • Well, it is that time of year again, when the pumpkins are ripe and out in the fields. The corn stalks are turning brown and for us the leaves are just starting to turn colors. Welcome to autumn.

  • All through spring, I put off the flower shots. Now all I’ve got is this one, tired and withering. And yet I still find it beautiful. Even as the petals curl and fall, it delivers its most precious gift of all – the promise of the next generation. When spring returns it will be born again a hundred times over. And maybe, just maybe, I won’t wait so long to capture them.

  • One of my favorite shots. It comes with a funny story – it was photographed in a front garden of a house not far from my home. The lady living in the ground floor encouraged me in taking few shots there, and as I did so, I got chased out five minutes later by the man on the first floor. Luckily, I´ve managed to take few great shots by that time, including this one.

  • Scabious is much too ugly a name for this delightful bloom (scabiosa) otherwise know as the pincushion flower. It’s a wonderfully long flowering perennial and older varieties have a gorgeous delicate fragrance. This particular plant is (even) older than me (! ? !) and has been carefully tended by my dad for decades as it came (via a removal van) from the house I was born in. Captured during a recent shower Its lovely scent is a great reminder of summers past. . . :))) Greenery is from a nearby heather and this was taken in the same rain as summer shower so it was well worth getting slightly damp! ;))

  • Featured in ‘The Scavenger Hunt’ group / 21st June 2009 Lunch Time I was having lunch with a friend today and outside our dining room window this beautiful Monarch butterfly landed so I grabbed my camera and I was off. I managed to get 2 shots before she gracefully soared away dancing on the breeze. Taken 6th March 2009

  • FEATURED IN THE IMAGEWRITING GROUP I held Time in my hand once… / It gathered the light of the sun / And filled itself with life / It’s rainbow of colours seemed only for me / They warmed my heart / And nourished my soul. / My eyes opened to its simple joys. / I held time tightly / but as gently as I could. / It seemed it would last forever / But each petal soon tired and fell / Carried away by the winds that blow. / (They are always hungry for change) / Yet the center of time has held fast / To a stubborn stalk that endures / The settings of the sun, / And the winds that always blow… / So I hold fast / And can reach easily through time / In both directions / But it is here… / Now… / That I find peace. / I can smile / With the sun on my face / And remember / The birth of my soul. / ~ Karen Tillotson /
