When I set-up to take this photo the outcome was not my original intention. In viewing the picture after I realized I had been blessed with far more than I had hoped for. God works in mysterious ways does he not! My initial aim was to photograph the black eyed susans in my garden with a nice dark background. As it was mid evening, and the sun was setting in the horizon, this was the end result :o) FLORAL GALLERY / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST /
Mother nature has supplied this natural dolly for this Black Eye Susan. I thought it would make a pretty picture. Northwest Indiana August 2008. Copyright © Curtiss P Simpson
So much beauty can still be found in a flower that is starting to fade. This black eyed susan immediately caught my eye with all the wonderful autumn colors in its wilting petals. Photo taken in my garden – Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Note: Background was not digitally changed to black – that is the way the photo was taken :) FLORAL GALLERY / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST /

I’ve entered the word of layering images and it is SO MUCH FUN! After my first week of practice this is the first creation I felt was worthy of upload to RB. This work of art includes the combination of 2 images – a monarch butterfly, and a black-eyed susan. I enhanced the colors in 3 sections of the monarch’s wing to tie the colors in the composition together and purposely made the butterfly smaller than life. I have entered an entirely new world here and am excited at the possibilities that lie ahead as I search through my extensive collection of images for future works :o) / / Original floral image. / / FLORAL GALLERY / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST
I tried to do some macro photography outside in my garden after the rains, and found this Inca Lily with droplets on the stamen and the inside of the flower. I tried several shots (but without a tripod) and had a few blurry pictures from that. But I also got a few really nice ones and I especially love this one – love the sunburst on drops and could not get those for a while. Did something right and this one droplet has a sunburst! “Three Susans”, is a testament to the beauty of autumn’s, Black-eyed Susans. It seems the blooms never really decide whether to be yellow, or orange. But in the end it doesn’t matter… they are gorgeous. Three Susans, is done on watercolor paper. The basic color scheme is painted in with watercolor and markers, the finishing is done with color pencil. I used many shades of purple for the background that lends the piece a startling, yet strangely subtle contrast. Thank God for the local greenhouse in this desert community! The Nevada desert can get pretty bare and monochrome during the winter months. I stop by once or twice a week, just to breath in the heavenly fragrance of the flowers, feel the moisture in the air and walk among the rows and rows of flowers and plants. It was a virtual field of eye-candy today…brilliant, brilliant spirit uplifting colors! / Original digital photograph. / Taken with a Sony Full HD 1080 Cyber Shot camera. It is a wonder world in the garden, in nature all together! Especially when it rained. The earth smells different, the flowers look brighter, the little diamonds the rain leaves in these droplets are such wonderful magnifying information centers. / These are droplets clinging to the stamen of the flower. I have red, pink and yellow Inca lilies. This stamen is from the pink variety. The yellow flowers’ stamen differs a bit from the other colours / Awesome, just awesome. Enjoy with me Canon EOS 450D / f 6.3 / 1/200sec / ISO 200
