Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. Oil on canvas 24” X 24”. Completed December 2008. www.RainbowPathArtStudio.com “I am devoted to total world peace. I am the world.” / – Byron Katie The PEACE painting simply evolved. I am sure many other artists have experienced the same thing when you have in mind to paint one thing but something totally different emerges – much to your surprise. It was like this with PEACE. I really didn’t know from one step to the next how it would be. However, I did feel like I was being guided through the entire process by spirit so I did not worry. This painting does not need too much explaining, so here are just a few insights: The hummingbirds (delicate creatures representing joy) find the PEACE mandala more attractive then their usual nectar flowers, thus they are taking their nourishment from PEACE. The mandala reflects diversity in oneness. True peace comes from a higher state of consciousness. Specific colours, such as certain blues, purples, gold and silver, were used to assist the viewer in raising their own consciousness and attaining peace. In peace and joy / Maya
This is my tribute to Muntazer al-Zaidi. The legendary journalist who threw his shoe at George W Bush during his farewell visit to Iraq. Clearly it is based on Banksy’s “Flower Chucker” stencil which is based on a photo from the 1968 riots in Paris. I’ve tried to keep it faithful to both Banksy and Muntazer by illustrating his head as close as possible to the original press conference image, in the style of “Flower Thrower”. I also illustrated the shoe to fit his hand just nicely and added a bit of definition to the fingers. Love to know what you think. Good riddance George Dubbaya. Muntazer al-Zaid may be the thrower, but you certainly are the tosser. / / / / / / /
