At Day’s End As the sun goes down over the front range mountains of Denver, Colorado, the Sunflowers turn, in anticipation of the sun coming back up in the morning. Photographed in a field where all you can see for miles and miles is Sunflowers….billions of Sunflowers. An entire sea of yellow and gold….caught in my lens for a fleeting instant, where the whole world was at peace…. laying on the ground shooting macros again, this large-flowered white trillium and large flower bellwort were growing side by side, and nope, the shot isnt upside down, the bellwort grows that way :) / shot this macro using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens / thanks to tom biggs, and his buddy harold ross jr, for turning me on to this new location to shoot. this was in the smoky mountains on the north carolina side

“The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! This is an oil painting I did the day of my wedding. It was a class I was taking and the instructor knew I was getting married that afternoon. So he had the class paint as fast as they could, he said it will come out better then spending a lot of time on it. Well, he was right! All the paintings in the class turned out so beautiful and it took us 2 hours and I was off at noon to get ready for my wedding. This was the happiest day of my life! We were married in the little church in the Garden of the Gods. The most beautiful place on the earth. When I brought my painting home my husband was amazed and loved the picture. To this day we cherish this picture the most. It was in July and the flowers were blooming and there in the back drop was Pikes Peak covered with snow. Like all of the work I put on Redbubble. This piece took a long time to finish. I always take my time with important illustrations, especially if I want people to purchase them. The mountains alone took well over 4 hours to complete. I changed them many many times. They could’ve been an illustration by themselves cuz there’s so much detail in them. The idea behind this piece is loosely based on the fact that I never want to give up on my passions in life. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from pursuing your life’s goals. You don’t want to look back and have regrets. They will haunt you forever….those things you told yourself you always wanted to do will become your ghosts. You cannot run away from your passion/s in life. Further more this illustration is a reminder to me. A personal mission statement built into an illustration. ‘Inspired Series’ card by Karin Taylor Gypsy is a mixed media painting on canvas textured paper. She has been hidden away in my studio for a while now, awaiting her final touches. It turned out, she was finished and didn’t need anymore work…I hope you like her. I created this painting after I’d read of the gypsy clans who settled here and still roam Australia, a little known fact. It is in fact interesting, how many Aussies came from a gypsy background.

Towering above at 13,001 feet in altitude, Summit Lake is breathtaking. Showcasing Mount Evans in the background, it displays wildflowers which are found no where else on earth except the arctic circle. Captured in the morning light and processed in HDR, I really wanted to scene to come to life.
