“The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. This is a macro shot of a plant in my neighbours garden. Around here they are known as Hot Pokers. I thought you might enjoy these colourful flowers. / It was a nice sunny day which showed the blooms off well. . / / . /
The stamen (I never know what to call it… ) part of a Hibiscus flower…
I love the different textures and colors this little bud had… it has the same colors as a peacock feather! This was taken with a sigma 105mm macro lens, the bud was tiny about the size of my pinky nail.
A fading bloom in my garden… the petals would curl up at the end of it’s life cycle.

I was washing dishes one day, when I noticed a tiny bubble land on the mum plant in my plant window… I had only enough time to dry my hands, run to get my camera and take 5 shots, haha.

Something from the vault… another dandelion photo… I just keep discovering these, haha. There’s a gold mine of them on my hard drive. I don’t remember what I used as the background for this, but I edited the saturation to make the red really pop and it reminded me of star bursts. You know the candy, hehe… Enjoy!

I picked out these roses for my father to give my mother for Valentine’s Day. They’re such a deep red color and the petals are velvety…almost black. I love those type of roses. I used a really low white balance when I shot this to give it a more bluish tone. Enjoy!
These are the same roses from Valentine’s Day with the velvetly petals. I adjusted the white balance on my camera before shooting to give it a bluish tone. It looks like crushed eyeshadow to me…:D Shot with a sigma 105mm macro, indoors with flash. Enjoy!

This is kind of a reworking of my Butterfly Glade image, in a way. I was never quite happy with how that turned out but at the time, didn’t have the skills to do a better job. I always wanted to try something similar again… :) This image is a mixed media creation; the background image is a pastel drawing I did specifically for the purpose, which has then had several hundred layers of photos overlayed in Photoshop. All resources used are my own, with the exception of two brushes: the brush for the hair was courtesy of Trisste Brushes, the brush for the vines was courtesy of Obsidian Dawn.com. All photos by me on either my old Kodak Easyshare CX3700 or my Canon Powershot A480 compact cameras. Proudly New Zealand made. :) Featured in Yellow Gallery, Nov 14, 2009.
