Chateau de Villandry – a 16th century late Renaissance chateau in the Loire Valley, France…..famous for it’s magnificent gardens. The Loire Valley, with a great number of chateaux, is listed with UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. / / This recreated Renaissance garden at Villandry is like a tapestry changing with the seasons. / The gardens are on three levels. At the top, from where this photo is taken, is a water garden fringed with ancient lime trees, then on the next level down, a flower garden level with the chateau and then below that is the world’s largest ornamental kitchen garden. Eight full time gardeners maintain the gardens at Villandry. They raise and plant 60,000 vegetable and 45,000 bedding plants each year. / It truly is a delight to the senses. Memories of my garden in fall, three dimensional parts, hidden words and images, machine and hand appliques, machine quilted. This is actually a story about my hubby in his garden, battling the gremlins each season. The sunflowers are three dimensional as are the eyes of the raccoon, hubby’s socks and his hair.

Just a decorative piece I made from illustrations (pen and ink) of various trees and plants on one of my favourite walks in the Rimutaka forest park. I would have drawn these on-site but its generally veiled in sheets of misty rain, making sketching kind of like drawing on wet toilet paper with a wire brush… Hmmm!! If you’d like a version with text of any sort added, let me know and I’ll make one up for you.

A little collage of some of the items growing out in my garden…..last night deer came in and ate two of my tomatoes that I planned on picking today…...they actually trimmed my plants – didn’t know that they would eat tomatoe vines…..I can taste that Venison now!!!!!!!!!! I left the tomatoes out of this collage as they don’t look too appealing right now…..the Cantalope will be ready to pick in a few days, the grapes are already picked (and delicous), the Zucchini is being picked everday…..also in the garden are hot peppers, garlic and watermelon….........and the frogs are an extra….Copyright protected and registered; please respect copyrights:MCN: C8EEC-0CD2E-7C71A /

This squash was home grown by my ten year old grandson and he came yesterday with it knowing I take pics of everything and told me, these are not for eating Mom Mom, I knew you’d want to take pictures of them, so I did…This is for Zachary! LOL
