This dreamy vision of fragrant Frangipani brings back to me the heavenly colors and scents of this alluring tropical flower which I was blessed to enjoy today in my friend’s garden. Taken in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Every other tree on this stretch of coastline was a green palm, this was only the exception and I couldn’t resist it. See my video on YouTube

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

/ “Hibiscus Morning” is part of the Tropics Collection...mornings on the island, the Hibiscus opens early…breakfast on the terrace with the warmth of the sun, feels so luxurious with all the blossoms cascading down, in their multitudinous shades of brilliant colour ... Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper… Sequestered in their wiry pods, / the hibiscus opened last night after a long silence. / While we mimicked stones in our shared bed, / the big lusty blooms burst into being, / half-human and full as the moon. Featured in the group Nature’s Wonders in July 2009 / Dendrobium smilliae is native to Thailand and has canes 18 to 24 inches in height that produce clusters of flowers in colors of green, white and pink. The flowers last a month or so and can appear from the year before leafless canes. This plant is a reliable bloomer and does well in intermediate to warm conditions. / The genus Dendrobium contains six various orchid classifications, called sections, which identifies specific characteristics and growing requirements of the orchids in these classes. Dendrobium smilliae fall under the section Dendrobium Pedilonum. / This one was taken at the 10th Annual Orchid Exposition held at the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden.
