  • Something besides portraiture for a change! This piece won the College Foundation Purchase Award in the student art show I entered last April. It was my first ever entry into an art show, and I was shocked and elated that I actually won something. Needless to say, I am very proud of this image. © Cadence Gamache This piece was nominated into the Pay It Forward group by the wonderful Melanie Dooley. This is what she had to say about it: When I first joined RB I saw this image and bought a canvas of it – it hangs on my dining room wall. / I was very inspired by the colours, composition and textures. I know the artist is proud of this image – as she should be. It embodies everything I aspire to as a beginner/hobby digital artist. You are way too kind, Melanie… Thank you.

  • Finished this painting today. / I think the painting speaks for itself…...these old things have a history…it shows on every little bit of these objects. The metal, the rust and of course the old wood. I added the flowers as a tribute to all of these. • A new addtion to the Still Life series, “Still Life with Old Dandelion Stencil and Terracotta Pots” pays tribute to the lovely art of stenciling that experienced a resurgence in the 80s then got overexposed and trite…well know in Europe for centuries, in North America itinerant stencillors made a good living going from town to town with their tools…evidence of their beautiful work still remains today and is shown in museums around the world... / I chose to infuse this painting with the flavour of an old garden room, where the plaster has fallen off and the single stencil though greatly worn with age still looks beautiful…the terracotta pots which are so delightful to paint, add to the feeling of age…I have a number of these ancient pots, and though they are still under wraps right now, I know them so well I think I can reproduce them in my sleep... • Someday, the light will shine like a sun through my skin & they will say, What have you done with your life? & though there are many moments I think I will remember, in the end, I will be proud to say, I was one of us. / ~ Story People

Best Viewed Full Size I discovered this wonderful antique bike at the Juniata Crossing Mercantile on Route 30, near Breezewood PA on May 10, 2009, and couldn’t resist the image. Used the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, cp filter was probably still on. Post processing included a trip to Photoshop for removal of distractions, then to Photomatix for hdr (hand held camera, single image +/-2), then back to Photoshop for a light Orton and other final tweaking.

  • An alternative valentine maybe? I have no idea what motivated me to do this, but the discovery of a broken set of my late grandad’s dentures in his shed certainly isn’t something that happens to me every day and I wanted to make a memory of the moment :)
