This is a portrait of a modern day Marie Antoinette. She has gorgeous long hair pinned back with two bright blue roses resting softly within. This illustration has been created with pen and coloured pencil on patterned paper.

A Buddhist monk with a lotus flower at a Monastery in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I spent the last 10 days mountain biking around Cambodia. We had a rest day in Phnom Penh and I asked my tuk-tuk driver, Mr Hen, to show me the real side of the city. It was wonderful. I didn’t see a western tourist all day! The Monastery was our first stop. Luckily it happened to be a Buddhist holy day and there was a lot of activity. This monk was very kind and genuinely interested in my life. He blessed me before I left.
“The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. When I saw this image…..Daydream popped in my head….Our daydreams normally can consist of fantasies, wishes, hopes, things that may seem surreal, or even just the need to briefly escape from our everyday lives….and to me…the beauty of how this flower is complemented and enhanced by the particular color of lilac background gives it a natural beauty that is almost unreal..There is such vivid and striking beauty that it is very unique and pure..yet it is so very gentle and soft at the same time…The way the light streams in on the blooms almost gives the feeling of hope…happiness…life… Whether this makes much sense or not as to where the title came from…I dont know…but that is just what I knew the title had to be…. It just felt right..

Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter.
