  • Beauty is Eternally Free / Hamoa Beach Maui Hawai’i I picked some fresh Plumeria blossoms and a branch of blooming Bougainvillea and tossed them onto the luxurious black sand of Hamoa Beach and was only able to get a couple of shots when a wave came in and carried them out to sea. Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved “Hidden behind the veil of mystery, / Beauty is eternally free from the slightest stain of imperfection. From the atoms of the world, / He created a multitude of mirrors; / into each one of them / He cast the image of His Face; / To the awakened eye, / anything that appears beautiful is only a reflection of that Face. / Now that you have seen the reflection, hurry to its Source; / In that primordial Light the reflection vanishes completely. Do not linger far from that primal Source; / When the reflection fades, you will be lost in darkness. / The reflection is as transient as the smile of a rose; / If you want permanence, / turn towards the Source; / If you want fidelity, / look to the Mine of faithfulness. / Why tear your soul apart over something here one moment / and gone the next?” ~ by Jami ~ Translation by Andrew Harvey and Eryk Hanut Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi

  • Sometimes shooting outside the “golden hours” can really highlight the vibrancy of the tropics…......hope you like this one :-) Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, August 2009

  • A surreal depiction of shoes for all seasons.

  • Tachogna beach, Tinian Couldn’t believe the beautiful blues emerging every few minutes and the hundreds of mozzies that made a meal of me !! Tinian is about 5 miles (8km) southwest of Saipan, from which it is separated by the Saipan Channel. / Tinian is one of 3 principal islands of the Northern Mariana Islands. It’s probably best known for being the base from which the American atomic bomb attacks on Japan during World War II were launched. The Island has a variety of flora and fauna, as well as limestone cliffs and caves. There is also a variety of marine life and coral reefs surrounding the island. Its clear, warm waters are ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving.

  • Bird Island, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, USA The only way to really capture the vibrant blues of the tropics is to shoot outside the golden hours. After capturing this we watched manta rays gliding through the reef from above, not the place to be when one is a diver, though they are incredibly beautiful to see :-)) 33 C 89% humidity
