  • A macro shot of a pink Leopard Lily

  • A little red ant having a good old time rolling around in the pollen, he seemed a bit perturbed at my lens following him all around though.

  • Enjoy!

  • This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

  • My clematis is flowering, and I love the dusting of pollen in the centre of each flower …

  • Macro image of the inside of a flower. Love the pollen on the stamen. Ran this through Photomatix to create this HDR image.

  • Had the camera set up on the tripod and was shooting away at this gorgeous little pumpkin flower, when along came a bee. Lucky me! Hope you enjoy! Other Categories / Animals / Apes / Architecture / Baby Animals / Bears / Birds / Big Cats / Elephants / Fish / Insects / Macro / Nature / Reptiles

  • About 10 bees decided to visit this arum lily as I wanted to practice my macro skills. As I am allergic to bee sting, I was naturally cautious and tried to get a nice photo of them all, but I thought this one was a good one to showcase the bees busy to collect pollen. Normally the pollen stuck to their legs are yellow, but it seems that this flower gives them a white powdery pollen

  • I was trying the macro setting on my 70-300mm lens in a field of flowers surrounded by these buzzing Bumbles. I am definetly going to invest in a dedicated macro lens… any suggestions as to what to get? I use a Canon 400D.

  • Origin: Islands of Indonesia pollen, fruits In the wild, lories feed on nectar, pollen, fruits, and the occasional insect. All lories have a tongue that is specially adapted with a brush-like tip composed of elongated papillae. This feature enables the birds to collect pollen from flowers and compress it into a form suitable for swallowing. They play a major role in the pollinating or trees and flowering plants in their native Indonesia coastal and mountain forests.
