Pretty purple pansies and a multi-colored dragonfly. A great garden design perfect for Spring.
The pansy or pansy violets are a large group of hybrid plants cultivated as garden flowers. Pansies are derived from Viola species Viola tricolor hybridized with other viola species, these hybrids are referred to as Viola × wittrockiana or less commonly Viola tricolor hortensis. The name “pansy” also appears as part of the common name for other Viola species that are wildflowers in Europe. Some unrelated species, such as the Pansy Monkeyflower, also have “pansy” in their name. / Wikipedia / Panasonic FZ20

Where I live in Southern Oregon, we are lucky enough to have pansies bloom, in the winter and spring. If they are in a sheltered place, they also like to bloom in the summer. What a feeling of joy to see all of these beautiful little faces watching you as you go by on your way to the garbage can. When you spy them, your mind leaves the garbage behind and you can’t help but smile, for in a world full of garbage, there near your back door, is a carpet of joy! Orton effect applied:

Gotta love these little pansies. Such a happy flower! /
Yesterday we had a windy day and I wanted to take a photograph of this beautiful pansy. The breeze made the flower dancing so I choose a very short shutter speed with the focus on the heart of the flower. I am pleased with the result and I hope you too. Photographer: Thea Walstra / /

I photographed this tiny pansy which I picked from the garden with a backlight. It shows the fragile petals and delicate form of this pretty flower. /
