Something besides portraiture for a change! This piece won the College Foundation Purchase Award in the student art show I entered last April. It was my first ever entry into an art show, and I was shocked and elated that I actually won something. Needless to say, I am very proud of this image. © Cadence Gamache This piece was nominated into the Pay It Forward group by the wonderful Melanie Dooley. This is what she had to say about it: When I first joined RB I saw this image and bought a canvas of it – it hangs on my dining room wall. / I was very inspired by the colours, composition and textures. The sunlight through the petals and leaves looked lovely against the backdrop of the snow outside. Our short days make sunshine seem all the more precious, even indoors. I had a vision to turn my colorful bug images into sepia toned black and white images with a touch of color. But didn’t know how, until today….. The original photograph was of a dozen roses. After painstakingly removing all but the single rose in Photoshop, I applied several gradients and filters to achieve this final effect.
