  • The stamen of a Lillium growing in the garden. Loved the gentle orange colour of this flower. Canon 400D Sigma 100-300 macro lens finished in Photoshop CS3.

  • Another trip out to the swarming of ladybirds that I have been reporting on at Mount Burr South Australia. This time we took them flowers!!!!!! The thousands I have posted on recently have dwindled to small groups of twenty to thirty and are slowly moving on. They climbed aboard our flowers which gave us opportunities to take some images a little different to those uploaded over the last few days. I promise the ladybirds shots will stop soon but they are just such brilliant works of nature that I can’t help keep going back whilst they are there. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with two stage extension tubes and speedlight.

  • I took these lovely flowers in Alberta Canada when I was there last summer ..I dont know what kind they are

  • Canon 400D, 100mm macro lens.

  • I had never noticed a flower in this state of decline before. The petals had browned and curled over on the ends and it actually looked more visually striking than a healthy bloom on the same bush. This floral montage was created in Paint Shop Pro by enlarging and cropping the original photo and making it the base layer. Then I extracted the flower from it’s background and placed it on the layer above, at 100 % scale. I adjusted the Layer Modes to soften the contrast of the enlarged Layer, so that the small original stood out from the background image.

  • Captured at Wyntour Gardens in S. Redding early am of 08/01/09…....100% unedited….I love that this rose has so many petals and the color was amazing – hope you enjoy. / Copyright protected and registered – Please respect copyrights:MCN: C6AC5-6784C-98BA5 /

  • My mom, Charmian, is the most AMAZING person – warm, talented, compassionate, energetic, accomplished, enthusiastic, sympathetic, witty, intelligent and loving. She can sail a yacht and play the drums. She cycles in bike races, and thinks nothing of cycling 80km just for fun. She can do woodwork, paint pictures and so many other things that I can’t list them all. And she can garden – her garden is extraordinary, full of lavish beauty and breathtakingly delightful. If I was any good at landscape photography I would have shown you just how good she is, but seeing as I’m not, I thought I would show you just one of the hundreds of stunning roses she grows. Taken after a morning of rain at her house in Magoebaskloof, South Africa. Camera Model Canon EOS 500D / Shooting Date/Time 2009/10/31 11:17:32 AM / Shooting Mode Manual Exposure / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/125 / Av( Aperture Value ) 6.3 / ISO Speed 100 / Lens EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM / Focal Length 100.0 mm
