A single drop of water. So small and overlooked. Yet heavy enough to leave an impression on a delicate rose petal. Our massive ecosystem, a fragile element of everyday life.
A little abstract-ish macro.

Caught this moisture filled spring bud after this morning’s rainstorm !
Here’s another rained -filled spring bud !
This yellow flower crab spider sits motionless on yellow flowers and then surprises it’s prey. Here, a helpless bee is easy pickens . The yellow flower crab spider blends in seemlessly in yellow flowers, and is practically invisible to the naked eye. I checked in on this guy all day. He sat patiently for 12 hours, until the moment was just right. He uses no webs-just camouflage and precision timing! / Nature is amazing! (Windsor, CT.)
The “all you can eat” Labor Day Weekend Buffet continues! After polishing off the Daddy Long Legs spider, the same mantis went back for seconds. Here, the mantis has just caught a Flower Fly and is polishing off some wings. Hey-Save some for dessert!!!

I tried to do some macro photography outside in my garden after the rains, and found this Inca Lily with droplets on the stamen and the inside of the flower. I tried several shots (but without a tripod) and had a few blurry pictures from that. But I also got a few really nice ones and I especially love this one – love the sunburst on drops and could not get those for a while. Did something right and this one droplet has a sunburst! I have bought another orchid!!! This one is feeling a bit sad for itself. I got it from Lidls for 10 euros and the flowers apart from 2 are a bit wilted. It probably hasn’t seen daylight or been watered for a while, but I am sure with a bit of TLC it will be OK! As is, RAW conversion only. Nikon D40 18-55mm @ 55mm with clip on macro filter.
A furry little stigma on a little orange flower. As I said yesterday i have no idea what these flowers are. They are a sort of succulant. Nikon D40 18-55mm with clip on macro filter. As is except cropping to improve the composition.

Featured in Dimensions August 20, 2009. Best on Full Size Having some fun with the macro/micro lens in my garden (Montgomery County, Maryland) the other day, August 3, 2009, I found this darling little critter (thought she was a grasshopper but have been told by wiser heads than mine that she’s a Katy-Did) enjoying brunch. Loved the way she munched away on the flower thingie like a cob of hot buttered corn!!!! Handheld image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 60mm Nikon macro/micro lens. Shutter 1/640, aperture f/13, exp -.33, iso 200. Minor cropping and levels work in Photoshop.
views: 122 / favs: 9 It’s fall for many of us including myself; though in Australia it’s spring right now right? Flower folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper (coloured by hand before folding). Blue butterfly folded from a 5×5mm piece of paper. For a better idea of scale: Also available at Zazzle I made these some time back, but felt too lazy to take pictures then. But now I have to clear my workspace and decided to take this before putting them away. I have another concept in mind coming up involving a bunch, but I made one and thought it looked pretty on it’s own so here is a single one for now. Folded with a 15×15mm piece of paper, and taken with an Olympus FE-340 on 28, 2009 For a better idea of scale: This lily is the same type in my Substitue for a silent mouth of sorrow
