I visited this flower from dawn till about 11 am waiting for it to fully open, and here it is. I was moved by its proud structure, glorious colours, and the interest it generated in the visiting tropical insect population. Taken at the Evason Resort and Spa, Phuket, Thailand.

Brought some closed crocuses indoors out of the rain to photograph them, by the time I had set up, the heat in the room had completely opened them. They no longer looked like crocuses. /

This is not lavender but a teenie dew drop on the edge of a tiny floret from a purple bachelor button flower. This afternoon I was fortunate enough to stake out some obligingly relaxed bees – and managed to scare the neighbours into the bargain, by suspiciously crouching on the footpath in front of their lavender bush for several minutes… Lumix TZ11.
