I love shooting macro images of flowers of all kinds. This iris had such a beautiful color with the interesting loop shape. With flowers like this, I like to play with the focus to create a more abstract type of image.

This beautiful bearded iris was growing in my Mother’s yard. I thought it would make a lovely Happy Mother’s Day card. Hope someone likes it.

An emblem of French kings (and the Boy Scouts), a symbol notable for the diversity of association attached to it, ranging from purity to fecundity, prosperity and glory. The heraldic fleur-de-lis is a stylized lily with three flowers (more like a bearded iris). / The origin of the emblem is from the legend that a lily was given to Clovis, king of Franks, on his baptism, symbolizing purity. The device was chosen as the emblem of the French king in the 12th century, and the plethora of lilies on the field was reduced to just three by Charles V in honour of the trinity. / The lily also had ancient associations with fecundity, and versions of the fleur-de-lis appear in earlier Etruscan, Indian and Egyptian iconography, apparently with rebirth and solar symbolism. The central flower is often given an arrow or spear shape, suggesting military power, as well as masculine vigor. IRIS
