Wild flowers lead the eye to a small house an ominous clouds
Westfield, NJ – April 2008
Went to Halifax for the first time on Saturday, i n the really old Market hall in the centre was this beautiful little flower stall, i had to get a shot of, hope you like it.
Garwood, NJ – May 2008
HDR of my local bluebell wood (South Wingfield, Derbyshire, UK)
Kennett Square, PA – Longwood Gardens – June 2008 – Taken as a handheld HDR, RAW, ISO 400
Cross Estate Gardens – Bernardsville, NJ – July 2008 – Shot as an HDR, handheld.
I have always wanted to have a go at ‘painting with light’. So blacked out the spare room and bought a bunch of tulips. The flowers are lit with a small torch waved over them for 81 seconds and the shutter set to ‘bulb’. Except for the 50% texture overlay (I thought the wardrobe doors were a bit boring) it is exactly as shot. /
Don’t let him fool you. / There were definitely strings attached. / /
*Sunflowers and Colorado Sunsets * Revisiting the Sunflower fields I miss so much, a magical place on the eastern plains of Colorado like no where else, a place one day I hope returns. As the front rage of the Colorado Rocky Mountains dances with the setting sun, this scene seemed something out a paradise lost, the kind of thing you only ever read about. On this day when shooting the sunset here, I shot over 400 shots and came back quite a few other times as well. Well worth it I would say! Hope ya all like it! / —-John Minolta 5D / Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Marumi ND4 / Dynatran Tripod

Finished off in Photoshop and hdr in Photomatix with one original jpeg image, duplicated and lightened and darkened to create three images. HDR processed in Photomatix at e.v. spacing 2. A tiny bit of local history for Ellicott City, from Wikipedia … In 1772, three Quaker brothers from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, chose the picturesque wilderness, upriver from Elk Ridge Landing (known today as Elkridge, Maryland) to establish a flour mill. John, Andrew, and Joseph Ellicott founded Ellicott’s Mills, which became one of the largest milling and manufacturing towns in the East. In 1867, a city charter was secured for Ellicott’s Mills, and the name was changed to “Ellicott City”. It was designated an historic district in 1973 and today serves as the county seat for Howard County, Maryland. Companion piece to: A Seat In The Shade

Rural northern Boulder County, Colorado Honest to God above, this was utterly amazing….I can’t really find the wards to describe the whole scene to you all but I will try my best. I had to handhold this, along with the other shots to come, my knee is totally kaput so using a tripod was pretty much out of the question, however that isn’t the only reason…as we were shooting last evening, the lightning was all over the place, and well there were times when I wanted to grab it and try, but thought better of it lol Tripods make for great Lightning conductors! lol The clouds were just insane, and I mean really crazy, this storm went severe dropping reports of funnel clouds to the north east of us and hail as well. It passed over our heads, but sure made for some utterly incredible atmospheric shots! So you take that, a Sunflower field the size of a small state, the sunset, a country road, and the foothills and mountains as a backdrop, and friends, you have quite a scene you will NEVER forget! Hope ya all like it! / —-John Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-70mm / CPL & ND4
