just caught these rain drops hanging off the lilies in my garden / Jesus said / Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all of his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “With what shall we clothe ourselves?” For all of these things the gentile eagerly seek; for your heavenly father knows that you need of all of these things. Watercolour of the 12th century, Haddon Hall, Derbyshire. / Taken from Rinkydink’s original photo. I used lots of lifting off and negative painting, to get the tonal contrasts. I wanted to emphasize the age and wonderful textures of the old stone work – almost a thousand years old. I’ve entered this in the Just Watercolours group challenge. / I really liked the original photo colouring. For this, I needed a limited palette of just four – sienna, umber, cerulean and yellow , which I used in various dilutions and mixtures. St Petersburg watercolour pans. 12 X 8 inches 30×20 cms / Poundworld 90lb paper.
