Built around 1815 this church in the hills of Chimayo, New Mexico, is considered a masterpiece of colonial folk art and architecture and has been deemed a National Historic Landmark. Famed for its miraculous cross and the healing powers of the soil, the Prayer Room is filled with candles, cards & crude hand made shrines as well as crutches and braces testifying to miracles. Directly across the road they sell the best chili powder money can buy.

“Beyond the Red Gate lies the city of Valhala / -a place where brave young men go to die / -and the putrid smell of decaying flesh and dried bones permeate the air.” Image is a compilation of three photographs, (bird, landscape and fingueson the horizon), and a constructed image of the red gate with the stylised posts. Compiled elements are fused together using photoshop CS2 to creative image.

We used to call this sour grass when I was a kid. You would pick the stem of the flower and chew on it. It was very sour, kind of like Rhubarb. When I got in to the horticulture 22 years ago I found out this is really Oxalis pes-caprae. This was shot at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. Thank you for checking out my new work.
