  • An experiment with two of my photos – a rose and a bark texture. A brushed frame was added in Paint Shop Pro.

  • “Bliss” with a touch of selective coloring. Check out www.selectivecolors.com. An interactive, resource site for photographers and artists who use and are interested in the art of selective colored photography. Also if you have a free, moment be sure and stop by my new profile at www.yuwie.com. It’s a great place to introduce others to your gallery at Red Bubble and/or your website, make new friends, and (oh yeah) you get paid to be there. Read all about it here or watch the video to see how it works.

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Banksia plagiocarpa From the Proteaceae Family. / Banksia...after Sir Joseph Banks. / plagiocarpa... From Greek plagios, oblique or sideways and carpos, a fruit, referring to the upturned lip on the open follicles of the fruit. Banksia plagiocarpa is a medium shrub to about 5 metres in height. It was originally collected in the 1860s but remained unnamed and was not collected again until rediscovered in the early 1980s. The leaves are about 100-200 mm long by up to 15 mm wide and are narrowly elliptical in shape with recurved margins which may be entire or serrated. Found in Far North Queensland – Regarded as rare in the wild. I found this Banksia at Sailor’s Creek, Cape North Peninsula, Far North Queensland. 100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of “Banksia Plagiocarpa” will be donated to “thegreataustraliancancerbushwalk” for the Cancer Council. • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) Brightly coloured flowering annual that is heat and drought tolerant and thrives in hot, sunny positions and is grown for its ferny grey-green foliage as well as its colourful flowers. They do well in poor well drained soil, and don’t mind the frost. They flower continually for months. Plants can be short-lived but often self-seed. California Poppy is related to the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum), but does not contain opiate alkaloids. Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery White Lillies Christmas Lily: tall dark green stems with glossy green foliage topped with one or two large white trumpet-shaped flowers – Heavily scented. In the northern hemisphere these lilies are called ‘Easter Lilies’, whereas in Australia they are produced specifically for the Christmas period. Some Christmas lilies may have red/scarlet lines on the flower – it is more likely these are L. regale, or the Regal Lily. Lilies stand for tenderness or purity, despite the fact they are poisonous. Because of the wide variety of colours and sizes, they suit with most other flowers, and are commonly arranged along with long-stemmed roses as a romantic gift. Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Pink Frilly Gladioli Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae). Sometimes called the sword lily, the most widely-used English common name for these plants is simply gladiolus (plural gladioli, gladioluses or sometimes gladiolas). The genus Gladiolus contains about 260 species, of which 250 are native to sub-Saharan Africa, mostly South Africa. About 10 species are native to Eurasia. There are 160 species of Gladiolus endemic in southern Africa and 76 in tropical Africa. The species vary from very small to the spectacular giant flower spikes in commerce. These attractive, perennial herbs are semihardy in temperate climates. They grow from rounded, symmetrical corms, that are enveloped in several layers of brownish, fibrous tunics. Their stems are generally unbranched, producing 1 to 9 narrow, sword-shaped, longitudinal grooved leaves, enclosed in a sheath. The lowest leaf is shortened to a cataphyll. The leaf blades can be plane or cruciform in cross section. Canon PowerShot A650 IS / 12.1MP – 6x Optical Zoom – 4x Digital Zoom

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Possibly a Fuchsia magellanica History of the Fuchsia Flower Fuchsias originated from South America and New Zealand. They were first imported into Britain around 1789. During the late 1800s, hybridising of Fuchsias reached its height, when the plants were highly valued by the Victorians. Their popularity after Victorian times declined only to begin another revival from the 1950s until the present time. Many of the original Fuchsia varieties are still popular today.
