  • We will never surpass nature.

  • Something about gently flowing water is so calming and peaceful.

  • A softly blurred waterfall flowing through rocks, taken from the lower bridge in the Falls of Bruar. The geology of this place is quite impressive; at least 3 kinds of rocks (slate, limestone and possibly some schist) folded and thrust up at rakish angles around the Loch Tay fault, quite an impressive river gorge eroded by the Bruar Water. Nikon d200; I acquired a new tripod for the purpose of making this photo, but went on to shoot Raw instead; this one took a subsequent visit and benefitted from more water flowing anyway.

  • Gold Coast, Australia

  • Onkaparinga is from the aboriginal word ‘Ngangkiparinga’ a Kaurna word meaning “The Women’s River”. This is a shire or region of Adelaide in the state South Australia. This rock macro photograph reminds me of an aerial shot of several merging rivers with a definite feminine aura! Taken on apperture priority in the late afternoon with no direct sun. Macro photography of rocks, bark and flowers are my passion!

  • I was in the shade and that maple tree was in the sun. The contrast made the red tree stand out.

  • Stronge light shafts bursting through forest foliage onto cascading Water. Wide angle long exposure capture using Gradient Filters.

  • Rocky Mountain National Park…Estes Park, Colorado The River / by Garth Brooks You know a dream is like a river / Ever changin’ as it flows / And a dreamer’s just a vessel / That must follow where it goes / Trying to learn from what’s behind you / And never knowing what’s in store / Makes each day a constant battle / Just to stay between the shores…and I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry Too many times we stand aside / And let the waters slip away / ‘Til what we put off ‘til tomorrow / Has now become today / So don’t you sit upon the shoreline / And say you’re satisfied / Choose to chance the rapids / And dare to dance the tide…yes I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry There’s bound to be rough waters / And I know I’ll take some falls / But with the good Lord as my captain / I can make it through them all…yes I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry Yes, I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / ‘Til the river runs dry

  • WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cub hiding behind mum! The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hunt! • The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area in northeastern Pennsylvania boasts many beautiful streams and waterfalls. This stream at Childs Park State Park in the Delaware Water Gap happened to catch my eye in full spring flow. • The gorgeous Silverspray Falls (also known as Hidden Falls) deep withim Tillman’s Ravine in Stokes State Forest Preserve of northwestern New Jersey. The afternoon I captured this, the falls were very powerful due to torrential spring rains that had been falling during the month of June. By mid-August they may be pretty much non-existent, depending on how dry the summer turms out to be. The hike itself is very treacherous, but very rewarding when you finally reach the falls. Beautiful Art and Greeting Cards For Sale ~ Shop securely and view my collection here Haleakala Crater is a large erosional valley at the summit of Haleakala volcano, East Maui. It formed after the rimrock lava flows were erupted around the top of the volcano about 145,000 years ago, give or take about 10,000 years. Cinder Cones are small volcanoes within the crater composed of cinder and ash ejected during the volcanic eruption. Several volcanic eruptions blew the top off the cinder cones. Pu’u ‘o Maui is the crater’s largest Cinder Cone. You may also see Ka Moa ‘o Pele, Halali’i, Pu’u ‘o Pele, Pu’u Mamane Cinder Cones. Gazing into the mouth of the volcano. Imagine many of the cinder cones and spouts you are seeing are over 600 feet high. Haleakala is sleeping, dormant in perceived inactivity since 1792 when the last recorded volcanic eruption flowed over Makena and Ahihi Kinau. This photograph is taken as I am standing at the summit at 10,023 feet above sea level gazing into the crater. You may notice the tiny roads used by scientists to study the protected region within the volcano. Haleakala is a shield volcano. Built up from the ocean floor by countless eruptions, it was once a mountain that rose several thousand feet higher than today’s elevation. Haleakala dominates the east side of the Valley Isle and is sacred to the Hawaiian people. The mountain’s face is a mighty wall looming over the valley. Haleakala’s width spans 20 miles, ocean-to-ocean “Jelal-ud-Din Rumi has said centuries ago, that before man fire, water, earth, air, are objects; before God they are living beings that work at His command. The meaning of what Rumi has said is that all objects, all places are as gramaphone records: what is put into them they speak; either your soul hears it or your mind, according to your development.” by the Sufi Master, Hazrat Inayat Khan Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / Aperature 13 Shutter Speed 1/400 ISO 400
