Looking at water can be so fascinating… / This photograph shows a weir in Ratiborice, Czech Republic, taken just a moment before it caught a canoe of a waterman who did not pay attention enough. May 2008. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: ‘as is’, the only processing I did was retouching a scratch from the negative.
Today I looked into the river in Rocky Mountain National Park to see this beautiful little pod lying in the sun on a rock…..I thought to myself, what a wonderful place to have landed….to be continually cleansed by the warmth and light of the sun and the cold, clear water…..
The tiny marigold buds always look like little pieces of candy to me…

A whirlpool caught in a long exposure in a magical place called Illinois Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. Camera: Canon 5D / Lens: Canon 24-70mm / Filter: Heliopan thin Polarizing filter / Aperture: f18 / Exposure: 30 seconds Not the type of image I could bracket to capture exactly the same and layer the two together. What I did is save the darker version of this and worked in Curves in Photoshop and lightened it up. Then opened both images up and layered them and removed the light areas by darkening with the eraser/brush tool at about 35% by removing the lighter layer until she looked pretty.

Scene from the Chilnualna Cascades in Yosemite National Park near Wawona, California. I spent two mornings at these cascades, It was an amazing place to experiment. For this shot I used a Singh Ray Gold and Blue Polarizer mounted to my Canon 24-105mm lens and a Canon 450d. I took two exposures at f/13. One for 1 sec and the other at 3 sec. Then blended and processed into and HDR image with Photomatix Pro 3.0.

I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” Copyright 2009 – 2010 © Sharon Mau / ourjrny / The Heart Within the Art / My images do not belong to the public domain. / Reproduction is strictly prohibited. / All rights reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / Shooting Date/Time: 30 August 2009 12:34:40 PM / Tv 1/250 / Av 10.0 / ISO 100 / Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / One-Shot AF / Drive Mode Single-frame shooting
