  • The Bogey Hole was constructed by order of Commandant Morisset in about 1820 for his own personal use and was originally known as the “Commandant’s Baths”. Morisset was Commandant of Newcastle from 1819 to 1822. The name “Bogey Hole” was applied afterwards and comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “to bathe”.

  • The setting sun adds color to slice of beach off the South coast of Maui near Lahaina. The ebb flow of the rising tides evident in the foreground where the water is ebbing and middle where a waves begins to curl as it comes ashore

  • A coastal cauldron overflowing with the ssun setting on the Mountains of West Maui in the distance

  • Two leaves cast to the wind only to be rescued from the rushing water by a rock. A metaphor for life and way we can be cast to the winds of change and hustle and rush of everyday life. Yet one can find peace in our faith if we seek it. Refuge from the flood, the flow the busy lives we lead. Here’s to quite moments of reflection.( A Finalist for the Betterphoto’s November 05 image of the Month)

  • Elowah falls tumbles some 200+ feet to the floor of the Columbia River Gorge. Taken on a rainy misty day in January. I never seen that much water coming over the falls.

  • Golden leaves of fall line a rushing stream as it tumbles past large moss covered boulders South of Mt. Rainier

  • Dip Falls Tasmania. Over time the constant flow of water over this hill has created an intricate network of individual stones which all huddle together as one. It would seem that this fallen tree has discovered the keystone – the one which holds all the others together under the onslaught of rushing water – and rises up to lend its love, strength and protection to this precious individual. A flight of fancy on my part? Perhaps… but it is a beautiful thought, and what I will always see when I look at this image. Landscapes Black and White Artistic Creations Sisters Beach Series

  • Flowing Textures A study on how the soul likes to fly, transported by the flowing shapes in our surroundings. We all carry within us a deep need to feel involved in all possible visual trips, trying to soothe the unstoppable impulse to run away… José Ramos My portfolio—> JoseRamos.net

  • I was inspired this morning after reading and commenting on Julie Langford’s Post. It made me remember that sometimes the journey – the people you meet, the things you learn along the way – is more important than the destination. So despite the bitter frosty morning I rugged myself up (two thermals are better than one) and set out to greet nature and the day with Sami and my trusty tripod in tow. Turns out The Day had advance warning from Nature that I was coming (I think it was the blue wren who visits me that let the secret out)... and together they turned on an absolutely gorgeous – albeit bloody freezing – show. This is most likely the easiest image I have ever had in post production, the only enhancement it has had is a slight vignette added. For the mist gently rising off the water… the glorious colour… the frost on the reeds… the delicate reflections… the beautiful ray of illuminating light… I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nature and The Day. • Sedona, Arizona, USA 2008 Was so focussed on getting to this river before sunset , such a rushed hiked that I lost my bearings on the return trip and nearly spent the night out here !! Was rather daunting but incredibly beautiful nonetheless. I now make sure I have plenty of time either way, perhaps I should invest in a compass and a star chart LOL

  • Well, I spotted this out on my Saturday hike from above and scouted for a way down into the capture the scene. What I found was a impenetrable blend of steep banks and thick brush covered in Poison Ivy and Devils Club. Common sense told me to let it go but in the end I slid down using my tripod as a walking stick and managed to get to waters edge with both feet and behind a bit wet. I hope it was worth it for it seemed so at the time to me. Golden leaves on a moss covered boulder in a small stream contrast nicely against rushing water

  • I know i had taken a shot from this spot, and I’m sorry for posting so many shots from the same shoot, I’m trying to mix them up as much as I can. I wanted to post this as it’s a bit tighter than the other one and shot in portrait style, I also like the way the sun is hitting the waterfall more on this one, So thought I’d post it, hope you like :) / Shot Taken about an hour before sundown.
