The Bird of Paradise is an extraordinary flower, both in its vibrant colors and its unique form. The sun was shining directly on this blossom in an otherwise shady alcove and I liked the natural spotlight effect it created.
This is an original acrylic painting of the bright pink bloom of a hedgehog cactus. I had a cactus like this at one time and it would bloom vibrantly once each summer. .

Just finished my new painting made totally in Photoshop…”Flower mind…” is the result of my search of new styles and techniques. So this is my first Photoshop try! Yay! :) Hope you like it! Critique is very welcome! :) “Flower mind…” is also my entry to the Something New challenge in the Challenge Café group being my brand new work and also a fresh new style and technique for me :)
I love the different textures and colors this little bud had… it has the same colors as a peacock feather! This was taken with a sigma 105mm macro lens, the bud was tiny about the size of my pinky nail.
